Real Madrid kept their place at
the top of the Forbes most
valuable football teams in the
world in spite of a drop in their
overall worth.
Despite a five per cent decrease in
their value, Real Madrid kept their
place atop Forbes' list of the most
valuable football teams in the world.
Real have topped the list since
displacing Manchester United in
2013 and, with a value of
$3.3billion, are once again at the
summit ahead of arch rivals
Barcelona ($3.2bn).
The reigning European
champions' total revenue of
$746million is the highest of any
sports team on the planet.
Eight Premier League teams feature
in the top 20 of Forbes' list, which is
put together by using equity and
net debt based on current stadium
deals, pre-tax operating income and
player trading.
United, whose operating income of
$211million dwarfs that of any other
club, are third on the list with a
value of $3.1bn. Manchester City,
Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are
also in the top 10.
The value of Premier League teams
seems likely to only increase thanks
to a new domestic TV deal that pays
an average of $2.7bn annually for
three years starting from the
2016-17 season.
Forbes says that when the Premier
League's international rights are
finalised at the end of the year, its
total media rights will surpass $4bn
- second only to the NFL's
national rights ($5bn).
Bundesliga champions Bayern
Munich are fourth on the list, with
Serie A duo Juventus and Milan -
who suffered a 10 per cent drop in
value - rounding off the top 10.
The top 20 teams are worth an
average of $1.16bn, which represents
an 11 per cent increase from last
year.

Inter and AC Milan are set to lock
horns in a battle to sign Sevilla
midfielder Stephane M’bia.
The Cameroonian, whose contract
with the Andalusian club expires in
the summer, has attracted much
interest from both Milanese giants
of recent; in fact, the Nerazzurri
had attempted to sign him last
summer before opting for
Frenchman Yann M’Vila.

AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes
is set to renew his expiring contract
with the club, amid uncertainity
over his future.
The 33-year-old French centre back
moved to Milan in 2011 as a free
agent after his contract with Roma
expired and has since then
collected 104 appearances for the
Rossoneri across all competitions,
netting an impressive amount of six
goals and assisting another seven.
According to Italian paper Libero,
the Frenchman is ready to renew
his contract for two years and has
accepted a gradual pay cut, which
will secure him an annual salary
of €1.5 million.
With his current contract securing
him an annual salary of €4 million,
Mexes is the highest paid defender
in Serie A and one of the highest
paid players in the league overall.

Palermo FC is all set to release
striker Paulo Dybala next
season, who is linked with
several European top tier
clubs. Palermo’s league rivals
Juventus, AC Milan and
Internazionale are reportedly
interested in the Argentine
striker. Recent reports suggest
that Paris Saint-Germain,
Manchester City and Arsenal
have also shown interest in
the forward.

The young forward has been a long-
term target for the Rossoneri and
could be part of a swap deal for
Robinho. Wagner Ribeiro, Gabigol's
agent, admits such a move could
happen. He said: "It's true, the
transfer [to Milan] is possible. In
any case, he will be sold outright,
not a loan. We will find the best
solution for all parties involved."

Chennai, May 9 2015 Chennaiyin
FC have retained Italian World Cup
winner Marco Materazzi as their
manager for the second season of
the Hero Indian Super League.
Under the guidance of Materazzi,
Chennaiyin FC finished top of the
league stage in the inaugural
edition of the Hero Indian Super
League and became the first-ever
franchise to reach the semis. CFC
narrowly lost in the semi-finals to
eventual runners-up Kerala
Blasters.
“I am very happy to continue with
Chennaiyin FC for another season.
Despite starting our preparations
late last season we still managed
to be one of the best performing
franchises of the Hero ISL. It was
only possible thanks to the support
I got from the owners,
management, staff, players and the
fans of Chennaiyin FC.

TUMEJIFUNZA NINI KUTOKA KATIKA MECHI YA MILAN NA ROMA?

AC Milan put a huge dent in AS Roma’s Champions League aspirations with a 2-1 victory at the San Siro.
On loan midfielder Marco van Ginkel gave AC Milan the lead at half time. In the second period Mattia Destro came back to haunt his parent club, extending Milan’s lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute. Francesco Totti scored a late penalty for Roma but it was too late for the Giallorossi who have been beaten at the San Siro twice in the last three weeks.
The Honda show
Keisuke Honda was bought by Milan with a wave of publicity. The most recognised football player in Asia was signed to take Milan to the next level. Yet, Honda has been disappointing for the Rossoneri. Injures and a lack of form have held back the Japanese player, who has failed to live up to his high billing. But there were signs on Saturday night that this might be changing. Two assists and a classy display was exactly what Milan fans have been expecting of the playmaker. The key question now is can he produce these types of performances on a consistent basis?

The ghost of Mattia Destro
Mattia Destro scores goals, and his record proves it. He has averaged a goal every three games for both Roma and Siena. Not prolific but a reliable goal scorer none the less. Roma let Destro go out on loan in January to Milan. Not seen as a rival and with attacking players coming in, the club felt it no longer required the Italian’s services. In fairness, Destro has not been at his best for the Rossoneri, only netting two goals in 15 appearances. But to score against his parent club was, in his own words, “important”. It seems certain that Destro will be sold by Roma in the summer, but he gave them a reminder of what they will miss.
Big game disappointments for Roma
Roma has had a habit this season, and a pretty poor one too. The club has not won against any big teams in the Serie A this season. Two home wins against Inter and Napoli have been the exception, not the rule. Roma has failed to beat Lazio, Juventus or Milan this campaign, or any of the top sides outside of Rome. With Roma hoping to secure Champions League football for next season, this trait has to stop. Roma play Lazio in the derby in two weeks time, with the result vital for the top three equation. The Giallorossi must put to bed their inability to beat the bigger teams if they are not to have a disappointing end to their season.
Huge summer ahead for Milan
Despite the win against Roma, these are still worrying times for Milan. The official attendance for the game was 35,000, but in reality that was not the case. A figure of around 18,000 is more accurate. There is a real sense of disillusion among the Rossoneri faithful over current events at the club. Silvio Berlusconi’s ownership of Milan is another big talking point at the moment, with reports that Berlusconi is in talks with Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol to sell his share of the club. In addition, several players are rumoured to be leaving the San Siro, many with their contracts due to run out at the end of the season. However, the biggest situation to be sorted at Milan is the managerial position. Filippo Inzaghi has disappointed in his first senior managerial role. With no prospect of European football, the knives are out in Milan. These issues must be ironed out at Milan if it is to avoid another terrible season.

AC Milan are likely to miss out on European football once again next season but head coach Filippo Inzaghi believes he remains the right man to lead i Rossoneri "back to the top".
That was the opinion he offered after his side's 2-1 win over Roma on Saturday. "I am the first to be disappointed," Inzaghi said on the club's official website. "But if I am given the chance, I will take Milan back to the top. We need consistency and unity. We have taken a bit more time than expected, but if we're able to do this, we will go back to the top."
The Rossoneri won for the first time since April 4 and halted a three-match losing streak with goals from Marco van Ginkel and Mattia Destro, players on loan from Chelsea and Roma respectively. The win was Milan's 11th of the campaign and lifted the them to tenth in the standings.
"We have a precise identity in our playing style," Inzaghi said. "Against Roma, we weren't just about sitting back and breaking on the counter attack. We played football and deserved to win."
Milan are well adrift of the European places, which means their focus is on finishing the campaign positively in the hope they can carry strong form into next season. Inzaghi's team visit Sassuolo next before hosting UEFA Europa League hopefuls Torino on 24 May. The Rossoneri end the campaign at Atalanta on 31 May.
"We have to build on this match," said Inzaghi, who was sent off late in the contest and now faces a touchline ban. "Let's win our next three matches and do everything we can and then we shall see where we finish.
"To improve and try and get back on track, I only know one solution: work. This squad knows it should have done better. But the players gave a great response and this is the most important thing."
As for his potential one-match touchline ban, Inzaghi said: "I am sorry about being sent off. I hope that I can be on the sideline to lead the team for the Sassuolo match."

The Rossoneri club chief claims he is being cautious and that he will pursue an "all-Italian" team if the Thai investor ends up being ignored
Silvio Berlusconi has insisted he will not sell AC Milan to someone "looking for immediate popularity" in an apparent warning to Thai investor Bee Taechaubol.
Mr Bee appeared set to complete his takeover of Milan a couple of weeks ago but a deal has seemingly stalled, and Rossoneri chief Berlusconi said on Saturday he is unwilling to sell up unless his demands are met.
"Selling this club for me means selling a piece of my heart, my infancy, when my father took me to the stadium," former Italian prime minister Berlusconi told
Telenord.
"I am looking for someone who will put money into Milan straight away. I am prudent, because I won't sell to someone who is looking for immediate popularity because Milan is in fact a widespread brand in the world.
"I'm careful to discover the true intentions of those who offers to take over from me as shareholders of Milan. I'm ready to make a sacrifice and to detach myself from Milan, but only after checking the real intentions of those who want to buy the club.
"If these negotiations don't go the way we hope, I will go forward with another project to create an all-Italian Milan.
"I want to make the club a sort of Nazionale in a league where others have really exceeded with foreign imports.
"Last year's Coppa Italia final had just one Italian starting and our Azzurri coach Antonio Conte has had to call up players not of Italian descent to make the national side."
