Milan will start the pre-season on Monday and the pressure is on to continue the good form we saw after the restart. However, to do so, they will need some reinforcements and they are currently running late on the market.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, the negotiations for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s renewal is delaying everything. The Swede is exaggerating with his demands of €7.5m, just because he wants to be paid more than Gigio Donnarumma.

Milan can’t live solely of Ibrahimovic’s charisma and although his stay would be important, he can’t be a delaying factor in building this new team. The fact that Stefano Pioli hasn’t had one reinforcement yet doesn’t bode well.

Juventus have secured Dejan Kulusevski and Arthur well in advance, Inter have signed Achraf Hakimi and are closing in on Sandro Tonali. Napoli, furthermore, have brought in Amir Rrahmani and Andrea Petagna

Meanwhile, Milan have focused on selling the redundancies, such as Lucas Biglia, Jack Bonaventura and Ricardo Rodriguez. And yes, it’s true that the transfer window will close in October and there is plenty of time to recover.

That being said, the experience from last year shows that teams are built from the beginning. That’s why there are no more alibis this time. In exactly one month, on Sunday 20 September, Milan will play their first league game.

Just three days before that, they will play their first game in the Europa League qualifiers. One more reason not to waste any more precious time, because it would be unforgivable to leave Europe immediately, after chasing it for an entire season.

Locatelli is the ideal profile in the midfield for Juventus, Manuel is valued at €25-30m & this figure could be reduced by adding a player in the deal. (GdS) https://t.co/JEwUnHoSlk

*CM: Next 48 hours crucial as Milan close on Ibrahimovic deal – late attempt by Newcastle fails*

AC Milan are closing in on finally securing the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and should be able to announce it over the weekend, it is claimed.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, the countdown has begun and Ibrahimovic is moving towards renewing his deal at Milan for another year, with a decisive the next 24/48 hours in the wings.

Milan have made it clear that they do not intend to go beyond the €6million (fixed part plus bonuses) that they have offered, but Longo adds that a late attempt by Newcastle United to convince the Swede has failed.

Ibrahimovic proved what he can bring to Milan in the second half of the 2019-20 season as he netted 10 goals in Serie A to become the club’s second-top scorer after Ante Rebic.

Stefano Pioli’s permanence as the head coach appears to have pushed the 38-year-old towards renewing for what could be his final season at the top level in Europe.

Report: Fiorentina push for Piatek deal

Fiorentina are reportedly hoping to bring Hertha Berlin forward Krzysztof Piatek to Florence on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims the Viola have identified Piatek as the solution up front ahead of 2020-21, but currently struggle to convince Hertha Berlin.

The Poland international moved from Milan to the German capital for €24m in January and Fiorentina hope to lure the 25-year-old back to Serie A after only six months in the Bundesliga.

The report claims Fiorentina propose a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy the former Genoa player, but that Hertha will not let the centre-forward leave unless they get their money back.

Piatek signed a deal until June 2025 when he moved to the Olympiastadion

Torino have, according to Tuttosport, come to terms with Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia, who will sign a one-year contract with the Granata.

Biglia leaves Milan as his contract expires on August 31 and the Turin based newspaper claims he has agreed a €2m deal with Marco Giampaolo’s new club.

The former Milan coach wants to bring players he has previously coached and the former Lazio midfielder falls under that category.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a return to Argentina, but the outlet expects an official announcement from Torino in the next hours.

Biglia will reportedly have an option of a further year in the contract at the Grande Torino
