Real Madrid could offer AC Milan the chance to sign Lucas Vazquez in exchange for being able to recall Brahim Diaz, reports claim.

According to ABC (via DefensaCentral), Real Madrid are becoming worried that they will lose Vazquez for free when his contract expires. The club have launched one last offer to reach an agreement – a three-year deal on his current salary – but the forward’s agent has asked for a 15% increase.

Therefore, the future of the Spaniard is less and less likely to be in the Spanish capital, and the report adds that Real Madrid are considering an exchange between Brahim and Vazquez with Milan.

Brahim could return back to the Bernabeu earlier than agreed and intend to close that with the Rossoneri by offering up Vazquez, who is one of Milan’s targets anyway.

DefensaCentral add in their report that they have received the same information regarding a potential exchange between the two clubs.

BERGAMO, ITALY - JANUARY 14: Gian Piero Gasperini Head coach of Atalanta BC enters the pitch wearing a branded protective face mask during the Coppa Italia match between Atalanta BC and Cagliari Calcio at Gewiss Stadium on January 14, 2021 in Bergamo, Italy.

Speaking at the press conference on the eve of the match against Udinese, the Atalanta coach Gasperini spoke about Milan being given penalties during this season, and this is what he said:

“It is certainly also a question of skill. Experience? That is also a quality. We almost never have penalties. The number of penalties can make a difference. On that, we are not among the most awarded.”

Davide Calabria spoke to Milan TV and this is what he had to say:

“Where there is a need I play. I have always been a wild card in the youth sector as well. I started as a midfielder and then I moved to be full-back. I know how to move in multiple roles and this is a positive fact. You have to know how to move. with intelligence.”

On his way of being on the pitch:

“It’s the Milan style. From an early age you grow up with discipline, with respect for your teammates and opponents. You have to grow with respect but without fear of anyone.”

On his rebirth and form:

“Surely I had a bad year, both me and the team have suffered a lot. We let ourselves be discouraged but I realized that we had to work and roll up our sleeves.”

About his season and his offensive plays:

“At the start, Mister Pioli demanded a lot of attention to the defensive phase and the balance in that department considering Theo’s moves forward. This made me grow a lot and helped me a lot from a defensive point of view. Then I started to advance also considering the style of play of the team. I really like playing forward and having this freedom from the coach.”

On the fans’ support:

“I am very happy because it is nice that they appreciate what I do. You always have to be focused always because there are few breaks. There was a lot of work behind it but the merits also go to the team.”

On the objectives for the season:

“Seeing the numbers is something that stimulates me to try to limit the star of the opposing team. Trying to be decisive defensively makes me proud. This year there are not many opponents who have put me in difficulty but perhaps the most difficult moment was the first minutes as a midfielder.”

Do you talk about the dream of the Scudetto in the locker room?

“The logo we wear on our chests shouldn’t make us afraid to say that word. We don’t talk about it much but it is obvious that we think about it a bit.”

On his passion for basketball:

“I follow NBA highlights. . I am a huge fan of the Warriors and how the team was built. They have a similar path to AC Milan, of a gradual construction. I was there when Bryant came to Milanello but he was one of my idols for his work ethic. His death touched me a lot.”

On the young group:

“We are living this moment very positively. It was born a little by chance, thanks to our daily work and we have seen that the potential we have combined with hard work leads to great results. There are teams better equipped than us but the spirit we have can take us until the end.”

On the club being active in the mercato:

“We really appreciate the club intervening in the transfer market because it is right that the squad is strengthened if there’s a chance. With new additions, we can endure the absences that we have in the group.”

Mandzukic has another nickname - “Đilkoš”(pronounced “Dzilkoj”).
It was given by legendary Croatian coach Blazevic who took Croatia to a bronze medial at 1998 World Cup.

It means “brash and unsophisticated” referring to the striker's physical strengths, powerful physique and seemingly endless stamina, rather than his technical ability.

His endurance and stamina is so high, his former Wolfsburg manager Magath said that Mario “could play two back-to-back games without stopping even for a minute.”

The ‘new chance’ becomes a done deal, confirmed. AC Milan have reached an agreement with Chelsea for Fikayo Tomori, last details set to be sorted: here we go! 🔵🤝

Loan with buy option around €30m. He’ll fly to Milano this week - medicals pending. #ACMilan #CFC

Mario Mandzukic thanked Milan ‘for the opportunity to join this great club’ and vowed to ‘give my best’ to help the team succeed.

Milan are top of Serie A after 18 games and Mandzukic has joined to help ease the load in attack, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning to the starting line-up for the first time since November, but with another brace, against Cagliari.

The former Juventus forward has been given the No. 9 shirt and looks forward to the ‘honour’ of wearing the ‘iconic’ Rossoneri shirt.

“I’m thankful to the Milan leadership for the opportunity to join this great club,” he wrote on Twitter. “It will be a real honour to wear this iconic jersey and fight for the Rossoneri.

“I can only promise to give my best effort in every game and try to help the team in any way that I can.”

Against Cagliari, #ACMilan hit the post for the 14th time in Serie A this season. Only Lyon (15) have hit the woodwork more in the 'top five' European Leagues.

💥 The dressing room didn’t like Griezmann’s post-match comments.

🎙 Griezmann: "We made mistakes at set pieces and we'll have to work on it well during the week. We didn't defend well, we didn't talk. When the ball goes out, someone has to shout."

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics have revealed that – as per their metrics – Milan were the sixth-best team in world football last year.

The Rossoneri’s resurgence after the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and under the guidance of Stefano Pioli has been well documented as Milan went into 2020 fighting for a spot in the top half and ended it top of Serie A having lost just twice in the league all calendar year.

The IFFHS (via MilanNews) have published their ranking of the best teams of 2020 based on a number of different index rankings. Bayern Munich are top unsurprisingly with a 30-point lead, while Palmeiras and PSG complete the podium.

Inter are fourth, followed by Milan and Juventus, sixth and seventh respectively. In fifth place is Manchester City.

It must be noted that Stefano Pioli’s team rose 155 positions compared to 2019, and below is the rankings in full…

1) Bayern Munich – 260 points
2) Palmeiras – 230
3) PSG – 226
4) Inter – 223
5) Manchester City – 221
6) Milan – 220
7) Juventus – 218
8) Sevilla 213
9) Manchester United – 212
10) Arsenal – 206

Mandzukic left an excellent impression already

20 January 2021

Yesterday, it was the first day for Mario Mandzukic as a Rossonereo. The player joined AC Milan on a 6 month deal and came in as a free agent. His last experience was with Al-Duhail in Qatar when he joined them in January 2020 and left them in July 2020.
There were doubts about his physical condition since he has not played Professional football for quite some time. However, the latest report from Corriere della Sera suggest that the Croatian left an excellent impression.
The newspaper writes that those who saw Mandzukic in yesterday’s athletic tests at the Milanello sports centre noticed a perfect physical shape and fitness.

Meité to Sky: “We must continue to have confidence”.

20 January 2021

The new signing Soualiho Meité was interviewed by Sky Sport. These are the words of the midfielder:
“Being in Milan with this team, with this strong group, with this ranking is a great pleasure. We cannot be afraid of Inter or Napoli. They have strong players, but we must continue to have confidence and keep going as we have done until now.”
On playing with Ibrahimovic:
“With Ibrahimovic, I noticed that even when we play for fun and don’t do the exercise well, he raises his voice and then we immediately resume working harder. You feel that there is something more inside the team. There are many young people, who are calm and enjoy life, Ibra instead says how things should be done and everyone listens and that is important.”
On coach Pioli:
“The Coach asks for a lot of intensity and for me it’s normal. If the midfield is yours, it is easier to control the game. It’s normal for me, as a midfielder, to give intensity and run because that’s where we play. Milan is a team that has a lot of the ball possession and when you have to press you go straight to 100% because you are fresh. There is a way of playing that I am delighted with. Now I’m 26, I’m no longer a kid, I have the experience. There are many young players and also many experienced players, it is important that we all go in the same direction.”

Following the mistake of making 6 substitutions in the Coppa Italia game against Spezia, which would've cost Roma a defeat regardless of the result, the management have decided to sack team manager Gianluca Gombar and executive Manolo Zubria. ❌🟠🟡
