AC Milan are no longer alone in the race to land Palmeiras defender Matias Vina, according to a report.

The Rossoneri were repeatedly linked with a move for Vina throughout the January window as the management sought a natural left-back to become the new deputy to Theo Hernandez, and now an update on the situation has arrived from Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com.

On Twitter, he writes how at the beginning of January Milan had made an offer for Vina on the basis of a paid loan with an option to buy, which was rejected by Palmeiras. Winning the Copa Libertadores – a triumph that Vina was a big part of – changed the valuation of the Uruguayan.

The Brazilian club are now asking for €18million to sell Vina, and Barcelona and Real Madrid have registered their interest in the defender and have already spoken to his club. Milan have not abandoned the case, but the management must determine whether they should make such an investment, already having Theo in the team.

Theo Hernandez’s exploits since joining AC Milan have caused him to be compared with some of the best full-backs in world football.

The excellent @ViziFootball have compared Theo with three other Real Madrid linked players using a number of metrics. They have put the Frenchman up against Achraf Hakimi (now at Inter), Sergio Reguilon (on loan at Spurs from Real) and Ferland Mendy.

They have compared the following categories: turnovers, tackles, interceptions, pressures, long balls, final third passes, pass completion percentage, expected assists, assists, dribbles, aerial duels won, dribblers tackles (%) and fouls committed.

Starting with Reguilon, the chart above shows that Theo comes out on top in most categories, with the Spurs man only better in tackles, pressures and assists per 90 minutes.

When compared to Ferland Mendy – who made the €48m move to Los Blancos from Lyon which essentially spelled the end of his time at the Bernabeu – Theo also comes off better in most areas. In fact, Mendy is only better with turnovers, long balls, pass completion percentage and dribblers tackled.
Finally, the comparison that a lot of fans and pundits have been making in Serie A, and again one where Theo reigns supreme. Hakimi is only better than the Frenchman in expected assists, pass completion and pressures.

Calabria most likely will make a silly foul on Saturday to get a Yellow card. He’s one away from suspension it gives him a rest against Spezia so he’s fully fit for Inter and with a clean slate.

NEWS: AC Milan want to keep Brahim, and they have 3 options: Pay the €25M buy-out clause, try to negotiate for a lower fee or extending the loan. Real Madrid, with Kylian Mbappé in sight, will need every single euro this summer ⚪

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has insisted that he ‘feels like a leader’ on the pitch, as he approaches four years at the club.

Kessie has been a very important player for Milan in recent years, and especially the most recent one, playing almost every game from start to finish. Furthermore, the stats are on his side.

As recently highlighted by MilanNews, one of his many traits is his penalty taking. The Ivorian always very cool as we saw against Bologna at the weekend, a game in which he scored his seventh goal of the season, already equalling his best tally in the league (2018-19 season).

Having arrived back in 2017 he is actually now one of the longest-serving members of the current squad, and Kessie spoke to SportMediaset about his experiences with the Rossoneri, with his comments transcribed by MilanLive.

“I’ve been at Milan for four years. I’ve been here for a long time, one of those who have been with the Rossoneri for the longest time. I feel like a leader on the field,” he said.

The post Kessie reveals

As is customary at the end of each window, a list of the current salaries that each AC Milan player earns has been reported.

With Tuttomercatoweb reporting this Thursday that Olympique de Marseille‘s Florian Thauvin, whose contract expires by the end of the season, is actually giving his priority to AC Milan over any other clubs, news come from France to deliver some additional details about this deal.

According to Le10Sport, the French right-winger could possibly sign a pre-contract with the Rossoneri in the coming weeks, that would make him join the Serie A side in the next summer for free.

AC Milan are very impressed with the impact that Fikayo Tomori has made since his arrival and could buy him outright, a report claims.

Tomori joined from the Premier League club on loan with an option to buy and was immediately thrust into action after Simon Kjaer’s injury. He came on earlier against Inter in the cup, and made his first start during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bologna.

His first performances have surprised everyone a bit as the Cobham graduate immediately imposed himself, showing his excellent physical and athletic condition. What stood out was how he came out of the defensive line – a typical characteristic of English defenders – going to attack the strikers in Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and then Barrow of Bologna.

According to Calciomercato.com, Tomori have impressed the Milan leadership a lot during his first weeks in Italy. Chelsea do not want to lose the 23-year-old, but it cannot be ruled out that the Rossoneri will exercise their option to buy.

Not only that, but the source claims that the figure for the option to buy is not €30m as reported by some places but is in fact €27, therefore 1/10 cheaper than expected

There are decisive weeks coming up regarding the renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu, with whom Milan have still not found an agreement.

As this morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera writes (via MilanLive), there are now less than five months until the expiration of the playmaker’s contract and Calhanoglu has already expressed his will to stay.

An agreement should therefore in principle be easy to reach, but the Turkey international is standing firm on getting a big pay rise from the current €2.5m net per season he earns.

Milan are offering €4m per season plus various bonuses that push the agreement close to €5m. However, Hakan would like to get an amount closer to the recognised leaders of the dressing room – namely Gianluigi Donnarumma and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – who are the only ones to earn over €4m (€7m for the goalkeeper, €6.5m the Swede).

The paper adds how at this time there is no risk of him signing a pre-contract with another team, even if there is a big market for the player, but the parties will have to meet again and try to finally shake hands.

Elliott’s adventure at the helm of Milan seemed destined to last a short time, but something seems to have changed, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the American fund – thanks to the excellent results that the team are obtaining on the field – have got the taste for success and aims to stay in charge ‘for a long time’.

The fund has started to restore the club’s accounts and is avoiding crazy expenses on the market, but they are still managing to bring the Rossoneri team back to the top.

Pioli’s excellent work then increased the overall value of the Milan squad, which this season alone has gone from €466m to €496m in just a few months.

The team have 18 more points than this time last season, while the total wage bill is €146m lower than Juventus and €59m lower than Inter.

They have much lower net financial debt than their two main rivals too, at €104m compared to €385m for Juventus and €323m for Inter.
