Pellegatti: AC Milan will sign top striker in summer
Posted on February 7, 2021 by Rossonero

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti reports that Torino striker Andrea Belotti will join AC Milan at the end of the season on a cut-price deal.
At the end of the season AC Milan will have to make an important decision regarding the attack. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic close to turning 40, and Mario Mandzukic on a six months contract (with renewal option), the Rossoneri will almost certainly need to sign a new centre forward.

AC Milan want to renew Ibra’s contract for one more year but at the end it will be the Swedish striker to decide whether to continue or not. Nevertheless, Maldini wants to purchase a new striker and the chosen one is Andrea Belotti.

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti reports that he has received information on Belotti joining AC Milan in the summer. According to Pellegatti, the 27-year-old Italian striker will not renew his contract with Torino.

Belotti’s current deal expires in one year and Torino will be forced to sell him at the end of the season or they risk losing him for free. In 2017 AC Milan made a serious attempt to purchase Belotti but at that time Torino asked 100 million euros. Under the current situation Torino will be luck if they get 25 million.

The 27-year-old Italy international has been in great form this season scoring 10 goals and assisting 6 in 19 Serie A appearances despite Torino battling with relegation. A player in peak form ready to join a top club that aim to win the league. Maldini continues to work underground

#Calhanoglu turns 27, he is experiencing the best moment in his career. In Serie A he is the king of assists, 8 in total and first in the standings. #Milan is aware of his importance and has raised the renewal offer to 4 million + bonus. Something is still missing, there is a still a reluctance from the player and his representatives. [Antonio Vitiello]

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace yesterday at San Siro, on the occasion of Milan-Crotone 4-0. The Swedish center-forward, with these two goals, has reached 501 goals scored with club jerseys in 825 career games.

A phenomenon to which Milan, as reported by the newspaper Repubblica this morning, would be ready to offer the renewal of the contract (the current one will expire on 30 June ) for a further season: 2021-2022. This is so that Zlatan Ibrahimovic can conclude his splendid career by playing, perhaps, one last time in the Champions League with the Rossoneri.

Milan is ready for the renewal of Ibra. The newspaper pointed out the statements of the coach Stefano Pioli at the end of the match: “It is right that Zlatan continues to play and I think it is right that he continues to do so with us.”

Maldini spoke to Bein Sports France about the contract renewal situations at AC Milan. Here are his words:
“We have three players expiring, and we also have contracts expiring in 2022. But it’s normal practice, we are working. I always say that it takes two to be happy to reach an agreement, the players are professionals and think 100% of the pitch. The hope is to find an agreement soon

Today, Monday 8 February, as usual, was a day of rest for the boys from Stefano Pioli . But according to what Peppe Di Stefano reported to Sky Sport microphones , part of the team showed up at Milanello anyway.

There is a great desire to improve and continue straight towards the goals. These are the words of the journalist:
“Today was an optional day at Milanello, but despite this, part of the team showed up together with all the technical staff.

There is a great deal of work with all the members of the coaching staff to close the February commitments, a month that has already started well for the Rossoneri.

AC Milan are already thinking of opening talks with Chelsea about keeping Fikayo Tomori beyond the summer and at a lower price, a report claims.

Tomori joined from the Premier League club on loan with an option to buy and was immediately thrust into action after Simon Kjaer’s injury. He came on against Inter in the cup for his debut, and made his first start during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bologna. He also helped keep a clean sheet in yesterday’s 4-0 win over Crotone.

His first performances have surprised everyone a bit as the Cobham graduate immediately imposed himself, showing his excellent physical and athletic condition.

According to the latest from MilanNews, plans are already being made to redeem Tomori and make sure he stays with the Rossoneri beyond June.

Not only that, but the report adds that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are considering asking Chelsea for a discount compared to the €28million option to buy agreed in January.

The post MN: Milan plan talks

After the win against Bologna, Milan hosted bottom of the table Crotone at the San Siro in a must win game for them to remain top of the standings.

Unlike the game against Bologna, this one was quite comfortable for the Rossoneri as they scored four. Zlatan Ibrahimovic racked up another brace and so did Ante Rebic in what will hopefully will be a stepping stone for the Croat as he looks to build on this performance after having a rather volatile season in terms of form.

For Pioli’s added delight, almost the whole squad was available with only Bennacer and Kjaer out from that perfect starting XI the fans want to see. While the Algerian should be back soon as he had a fever prior to the Crotone game, we can happily say that Tomori has slotted in quite well next to Romagnoli at the back and things are looking good.

Milan have another rather winnable game next week against Spezia before they take on Inter in the Derby della Madonnina in a game that may prove crucial in the title race.

Here are five things we learned…

1. Rebic’s rebuttal

It has been a rather poor season for Rebic overall, which may seem harsh but he set high standards for himself by being last season’s top scorer. Injuries and COVID are also to blame as the Croat has failed to get into form.

In the Crotone game, however, Rebic finally got the performance he wanted as he managed to score two goals. While his first half action wasn’t as flashy his press was on point as he created a lot of trouble for Crotone’s defence.

His brilliant chemistry with Theo Hernandez on the left was also clearly seen as the two were constant threats. The only real problem now comes for Pioli as both Ante and Leao are performing and they both play in the same position with Calhanoglu coming back into the starting XI.

2. Energetic performance

Another man benefiting from and in-form Rebic is Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman had a great game as the winger’s work rate allowed him to go bursting forward throughout the whole game.

The left-back picked up an assist to his name and was at his very best showing just how important that Rebic-Hernandez link-up is on the left flank.

3. Leao is maturing

While Rebic was on the left, Leao started in the middle behind Ibrahimovic in the absence of Calhanoglu. The Portuguese provided the Swede with a lovely through ball for the opening goal.

Now, Leao didn’t have his most fruitful of afternoons, but he did enough in an unnatural for him position. The youngster worked really hard to recover the ball on several occasions and is showing signs of maturation – signs that we didn’t see throughout last season.

He will have a hard time battling out for the left winger position with Rebic but the attitude is there, and we shouldn’t be surprised if Pioli experiments with one of the two on the right thus fielding a front four of Rebic, Calhanoglu, Leao and Ibrahimovic.

That might shake the balance of the squad so the coach might end up not doing it but one thing is sure, Leao is becoming a player that you wouldn’t want to leave on the bench.

4. Excellent early signs

With Simon Kjaer injured there was reason to worry, also considering the not-so-convincing first part of the season for Romagnoli. Fortunately for Pioli, Fikayo Tomori has slotted in straight away after his arrival from Chelsea as it feel like he has already been here for a while.

The Englishman produced yet another solid outing and the chemistry between him and the captain looks impressive.

Moreover it seems that the aggressiveness and pace that Tomori possesses thus allowing him to recover fast, allows Romagnoli to cut the gap between him and the opposition striker. That being said, Alessio may feel that someone fast and aggressive has his back so the captain can step out and play tight with the strikers not being afraid to make a mistake.

Indeed, Romagnoli was quite good against Crotone with brilliant positioning and multiple interceptions.

5. A 10 from No.10

To say Milan missed Calhanoglu would be an understatement. The team has been lacking his creativity as seen the previous couple of games and immediately after coming on he was involved.

Hakan contributed to the second goal and then assisted the third and fourth, racking up two assists in a matter of minutes. Moreover, his chance creation didn’t stop there as the Turk could have picked a couple of more assists by the end of the game.

His return showed straight away why Milan have missed him and why they will need him if they want to keep on dreaming for a trophy this season.
