MN: Elliott’s vision clear as Milan consider Donnarumma ā€˜precious but not indispensableā€

30 March 2021, 11:12

AC Milan do not consider Gianluigi Donnarumma to be an ā€˜indispensable’ member of the current squad, according to a report.

According to the latest column from MilanNews, the ideas regarding the future are clear in the minds of Elliott Management: there will be no crazy expenses for any one player and instead new investments will be made on valuable young talents.

In addition, the project will motor on with or without Donnarumma as per the article, whom the management considers ā€˜precious but not indispensable’ especially if Raiola does not lower his exaggerated requests. The author Alberto Cerruti goes on to add how the hope is that in the meantime ā€˜Raiola will understand what world we live in’. It is an interesting indiscretion and one that proves how the American fund are not simply willing to bow to any request that arrives from a young players, regardless of their attachment to the club and the fans.

Mino Raiola to The Athletic: ā€œI don’t give a f*ck if I never do another player with Man Utd. I’m not in their hands. I’m independent. Guardiola? I’ve closed the book a long time ago. Everybody knows what I think of him personally; he can say what he thinks for me personallyā€. šŸ”“

Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has made a statement that will certainly provoke a reaction from AC Milan fans regarding the level of the team.

It must be said that Gasperini has done an excellent job with Atalanta given the resources available, having steered La Dea into the knockout stages of the Champions League last season and with them being currently on course for another top four finish this season.

Atalanta have often got the better of Milan in recent meetings too, winning 5-0 in Bergamo in the first half of last season and 3-0 at San Siro earlier this season, but Gasperini has drawn the rage of some fans for being quite provocative towards Milan in the past.

Speaking to the microphones of the Eco di Bergamo, Gasperini spoke about the growth process of Atalanta and the fight with the big teams in the league.

ā€œLet’s think about our size. We played for safety, then to stay in the top ten, now we are there with the big clubs,ā€ he said (via SpazioMilan).

ā€œOnly Inter and Juventus perhaps have something more, with the others we are competitive, as confirmed by the games played. Then maybe Milan and Napoli spend €100m and move away, but you can think of staying with these teams.ā€

Fikayo Tomori has responded to the idea that AC Milan fans are considering starting a crowdfunder to ensure the club buy him outright.

Having arrived on a loan with option to buy deal from Chelsea during the January transfer window, few could have predicted just how impressive the 23-year-old would be as he is now an established member of the starting line-up and continues to perform well in every game.

Tomori gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport about a number of topics including his time at the club so far and aims for the future, and he was asked about the idea some Milan fans are thinking of a fundraiser to keep him.

ā€œWhat? Crazy. I didn’t know, but it makes me happy. My mother reads a lot of things on social media and is very proud. All this is part of a journey, but I remain realistic,ā€ he said (via MilanNews).

The player has had a great impact since he arrived at Milanello in January, and is perfectly in line with Elliott Management’s vision of investing in young players with high potential, so it might be that the fans can keep their money in their pocket.

Milan are also following Josip Ilicic knowing that he doesn’t maintain the same great relationship with Gasperini in Bergamo anymore. The issue would be convincing the owners about signing another over 30 player but Milan like the player a lot and remain vigilant [Gianlucadimarzio]

For Calhanoglu and Kessie Milan will continue discussions with their entourages going forward, while for Romagnoli the contract extension matter was never discussed with his agents

AC Milan are observing several players on the transfer market. One of these, according to Gianluca di Marzio, is Josip Ilicic. Maldini and MassarĆ” really like the player.
However, it will not be easy to convince Elliott to sign another player over 30. The Slovenian is 33 years old.
Ilicic has been back on the field for a few months after having had a negative period. His contract will expire in June 2022

There’s still no agreement signed between Donnarumma and AC Milan, his contract is gonna expire in two months... but the board is still ā€œconfidentā€ and in talks to find a solution.
Raiola has not received any bid from Chelsea for Donnarumma, as of today šŸ”“ @SkySport #ACMilan #CFC
