Adriano Galliani on Calhanoglu: “Now there are these free agents who take up the money and are happy. Football is less romantic now, it's a pity.” https://t.co/5tAVToOU5S

Galliani: “I was astonished of his sentence that, after playing for Milan and finishing second last season, he said “Let's win the Scudetto again” [in his welcome interview with Inter]. It was a bit strange.”

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani reveals the battles with Inter to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia and Matteo Pessina, with Piero Ausilio confessing he got the worst end of both deals.

The two rival clubs share San Siro, a city and also many of their transfer objectives, something that goes back many years.
Sometimes the toughest fights were for players who did not end up being well remembered.

“I did everything to sign Kondogbia and Inter did well to beat us there, but I also paid for a very poor rapport between Nelio Lucas and his agent,” revealed Galliani during today’s event in Rimini marking the start of the transfer window.

Inter ended up signing Kondogbia from Monaco for €36m in 2015, so Milan turned to a far cheaper alternative.

“Monza went bankrupt on July 1, 2015. I could’ve signed Pessina for free, but his father – who was also taking care of their bankruptcy proceedings – told me they needed €30,000 to pay the wages of their employees on June 30,” continued Galliani.

“We could’ve got Pessina for free a day later, but we decided to pay the €30,000 and that way we snatched him out from under Inter’s noses.”

Inter director Ausilio was at the event too and admits they didn’t come out well from that scenario, as Kondogbia was an absolute flop.

“He spent €30,000 for Pessina, we spent €30m for Kondogbia. With hindsight, it would’ve been better for us to get Pessina, seeing how that went. Let’s just say the investment we made did not pay off with his performances.”

Although Pessina was sold to Atalanta for just €1.78m in 2017, they do retain 50 per cent of any future sale, with the midfielder now making a big splash with two goals for Italy at UEFA EURO 2020.

🎙️ Marco Busiello, agent and CEO of the Firs1 to MilanNews agency: "Ikoné is an important player. Milan has a very good relationship with Lille, as the Maignan deal also shows. However, I think he is destined for other markets because he has a very high cost.

🎙️ Gianluca Di Marzio: "For now, #Milan is closer to #Odriozola than #Dalot, also considering the difficulties in finding an agreement with #ManchesterUnited." https://t.co/61le6c6Zc2

AC Milan are keen to secure an important name in the market that would occupy the playmaker role that was vacated by Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Turkish playmaker left on a Bosman move after failure to come to an agreement that pleases both parties in renewal talks. His new club is city rivals Inter.

Since then, the Milan management Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have been reportedly on the hunt for an opportunity to replace the Turk’s exit.

Among the names that are heavily linked with the Rossoneri, there is James Rodriguez as we have told you before.

In fact, sources at ESPN claim that Milan and James Rodriguez are very close to reaching an agreement that sees the 29-year-old former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player join Milan

AC Milan are working to find a good opportunity in the transfer market window to strengthen the attack for coach Stefano Pioli in view of the next season.

The latest name to end up in the Rossoneri’s radar is Dusan Tadic of Ajax. He is 32 years old and his contract runs until 2023 with the Dutch giants.

In fact, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Milan are thinking seriously of Tadic. Here are his words:

“There were rumors in the afternoon and we confirm them. The contacts are there, for now only with the player who would gladly come to Milan. The feasibility of the operation must be understood, it must be understood if Ajax can give the ok to a possible sale.

An operation to be set up between the clubs but Milan is willing to go on.”

“Let’s see if it will be the surprise in attack, regardless of Giroud. Tadic is someone who can play both behind the striker and as a winger. It is a name on which Milan will work in the next few days.”

Done deal! Cengiz #Under to #OlympiqueMarseille from #ASRoma on loan (€0,5M) with option to buy (€10M). Roma will have the 30% on a future sale. Contract until 2025 (€3M/year) for the turkish player. #transfers #OM #TeamOM
