AC Milan will present verbal proposal for Mehdi Taremi. No plans to match asking price in excess of €25m but Milan want to try until the end. 🔴⚫️🇮🇷 #ACMilan

Taremi already gave his green light to AC Milan weeks ago and he’s keen on the move — it’s up to FC Porto.

Pierre #Kalulu is open to leaving #ACMilan for Bayern Munich. His relationship with Pioli is not what it once was and he'd be keen on a new experience at an equally big club with lofty ambitions like the German giants. But the clock is ticking on the transfer window which leaves… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

That moment between the Curva and the team following the defeat to Spezia has been interpreted and analysed in a number of different ways. It was just a show of support, which would have happened if the game had ended in a win or a draw, as it was ahead of the impending derby in the Champions League.

Yet, the fact that there exists a tight bond between the team and fans is evident in all instances, as shown both before and after the game against Torino. Before the warm-up, the Rossoneri went over to the Curva Sud to applaud the fans. And the response was a standing ovation from everyone in the stand. It was a way to thank the fans, who've packed out San Siro for over a year and a half.

The players then did it again after the warm-up. Of their own volition, off the cuff. It was just a desire to connect with the supporters before heading back into the dressing room. After the whistle blew on the 4-1 win, they went back over to the Curva. And a chant erupted: "This is how we want you".

Rhythmic, as was the Rossoneri's continuous running, their darts, their movements, their concentration and their game organization. This unconditional support, this exchange of energy and strength, as Stefano Pioli says, the players will have to take with them to Rome as well. On Friday night, it will be an opposing bowl awaiting AC Milan, a large stadium, with a hostile atmosphere. But with the right strength, you can face anything.

AC Milan made it two wins from two last night as they thrashed Torino 4-1 to take top spot, at least until the other teams have played this weekend.

Today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) talks about the game that took place at San Siro last night. After winning and convincing on their debut in Bologna, the new Milan repeated themselves against Torino.

There were moments where Milan looked unstoppable against Ivan Juric’s side and it was certainly another test passed against a side that has in the past put Milan in difficulty.

There are five games against top Serie A sides in the next eight games so it was vital that Milan got off to a good start. The first of these is on Friday against Jose Mourinho’s Roma, then it will be the derby against Inter.

There is still something to fix in the defensive mechanisms, but Pioli’s plan works: compared to last season, the Rossoneri have gained in quality, quantity, speed and physicality.

The new players are integrating faster than expected. Pulisic scored again yesterday, while Loftus-Cheek dominated things in midfield. Positive signs also came from leaders such as Giroud, Theo and Leao.

Torino head coach Ivan Juric has claimed that there was an ‘enormous gap’ between his side and AC Milan during last night’s game.

The scoring began when Christian Pulisic tapped in a lovely feed from Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make it 1-0, but a goal from Perr Schuurs did make life quite difficult for Milan.

Nonetheless, a penalty was converted by Olivier Giroud and then Theo Hernandez dinked a Leao pass over Milinkovic-Savic to give the Rossoneri a two-goal lead heading into the break.

Leao was chopped down when attempting to cross a ball in the second half giving Giroud another opportunity from 12 yards, and he converted it emphatically to finish the scoring.

Juric spoke to DAZN after the game to assess what was a tough evening for his team, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On the gap between the two teams: “I don’t even want to comment on the refereeing incidents because the gap was really huge and for the first time in these two years I’ve seen my team clearly inferior to their opponents.”

Is it a problem with the approach? “We could have played better technically, but I saw a huge gap in speed, acceleration, physical strength, technique. Practically everything.”

Torino usually play excellent matches at San Siro: “The worst match since I’ve been manager of Toro. We deservedly beat Milan twice last year. There was no competition today.”

What do you have to start from? “I have to review the game well, analyse it and then make the right decisions because today was a very bad signal”.

AC Milan made it two wins from two against Torino last night, scoring four goals in the process en route to a 4-1 victory that puts them top for the time being.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes this morning that Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud were once again protagonists of Milan’s success, just as they were against Bologna in the first game of the season.

Against Torino they both scored again. The first Rossoneri goal was an ex-Chelsea move from the start as Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and of course Pulisic were all involved.

Pulisic is the new star it seems after his excellent start to life in Serie A, but Giroud deserves a mention too. At 37 years old he is on three league goals so there could hardly have been a better start to the season for the Frenchman.

It means that he is the top scorer in the league at the moment while waiting for the round to be completed, and Giroud believes the team must aim big: “We have quantity and quality, we want to do as we did two years ago and win the Scudetto

AC Milan had simply too much for Torino last night as they romped to a 4-1 win in front of a sell-out crowd at San Siro.

Calciomercato.com write that Milan followed up their debut win against Bologna with an excellent performance, meaning Ivan Juric’s team never gave the impression of being able to snatch at least a draw, not even when they made it 1-1.

There were a couple of controversial incidents involving VAR, the first one being a penalty for a handball that might be judged as harsh by some, while the one on Rafael Leao did show a clear stamp, but Torino cannot use refereeing decisions as alibis.

Instead, the 4-1 score accurately reflects the clear superiority of the Rossoneri and there were more positive signs from Tijjani Reijnders plus Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who both arrived from Chelsea.

Before talking again about a Milan worthy of the Scudetto we must wait for them to meet stronger opponents – against whom Tomori and above all Thiaw – will have to avoid making errors.

With half an hour to go, Pioli gave a San Siro debut to three new signings: Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze, sparing Loftus-Cheek and Giroud. On Friday evening against Roma, further proof is needed that this Milan side are for real.

AC Milan defender Davide Calabria believes that the new signings have made a very positive impact so far, settling into a ‘young and ambitious’ group.

Milan made it two wins from two last night as they beat Torino 4-1 at San Siro. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring but Perr Schuurs hit back for the away side not long after. Olivier Giroud’s penalty restored the advantage before Theo Hernandez netted to make it 3-1 going into the interval.

Giroud would convert another spot kick in the second half after Rafael Leao was fouled to add some gloss to the scoreline, and make it six points from six with six goals scored and one conceded.

Calabria spoke to Milan TV after the game to assess what was another successful night for the Rossoneri and one that puts them top for the time being.

“I’m almost not surprised by our fans’ support. They haven’t missed a single game following us for years. They have always cheers us on and supported us, and we do our best to reward them for their passion,” he said.

“The new signings have adapted quite well and it’s also thanks to the strength of our squad. It’s easy to fit into our squad because we are a young and ambitious group of players.

“The players that have arrived are important, young and eager to learn. They’ve been at the coach and team’s disposal since day one to learn this new methodology which can be a bit tricky to learn.

“Right from the start It was evident that the new players were able to read our game and are talented, and they gave us a hand right from the start, which matters the most.”

Calabria also spoke about Pulisic’s start to life at Milan, given that he has really hit the ground running with two goals in his first two games in Serie A.

“We are talking about a player who was in top form on the world stage just a few months ago. His form dropped in recent months but he is a great player who has already shown what he’s capable of.

“This is the best environment for him – the squad, the fans and this stadium – in order to steal the limelight again. These recent games have shown he is adapting very well.”

Calabria concluded his interview by speaking about the team’s physical state after 180 minutes (plus added time) of action under their belts.

“It’s always tricky to decipher a team’s condition at the start of the season, even the heat doesn’t help, but we prepared in the best way possible for the start of this season.

“Our man mission was to take home six points in these two games, and we are satisfied about our physical resistance. We are working hard and must continue to do so.”

We are still only two games into the new season, but the early signs that have come from AC Milan are very positive, especially in last night’s win over Torino.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) talks about the Pulisic-Giroud-Leao attacking trident, or ‘PU-GI-LE’ as they christen it, who know how to exhaust their opponents and threaten in a variety of ways.

Two league games are still too few to make emphatic judgements, but certainly the speed with which Pioli assembled the group and explained his beliefs to the many new signings is surprising.

It seems as though Pulisic has learned the attacking mechanisms very quickly, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders continued their positive signs.

Milan are looking good and Friday’s match against Roma, defeated in Verona and hungry for points, will be able to tell us if they are already at the level of Napoli, Inter and Juventus.

On paper last night could have been a tough test for Stefano Pioli’s side, given that Ivan Juric’s team made life difficult for all the top teams last year, but not this time.

Referee Mariani helped Milan with a ‘very generous first penalty’ and a second that was ‘perhaps spoiled by a previous foul’, but that does not give much excuse for Torino who were outplayed pretty much across the field.

Pioli’s international group started well with some runs from Leao that immediately made it clear that he is in one of those crescendo evenings that make him unstoppable.

The first goal for Milan saw Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic combine, with the former setting up the latter for a tap-in. The Granata equalised a few minutes later from a free-kick as Perr Schuurs fired in on the turn to get his first Serie A goal.

In the 41st minute there came the first controversy as Olivier Giroud’s header grazed Buongiorno’s hand and the VAR called Mariani over who gave the penalty. There were no complaints about the third goal, as Leao teed up Theo beautifully.

Leao was brought down by Schuurs as he was crossing the ball which resulted in a second penalty being awarded – again after VAR consultation – allowing Giroud to get himself a brace.

Leao came off after the foul suffered amid the ovation of the fans and shortly after Pioli threw Chukwueze, Okafor and Musah on to make their debut at San Siro. The rest was plane sailing.

AC Milan put on a show last night at San Siro as they put four goals past Torino and made it two wins from two to start the season.

MilanNews talk about the depth of attacking options that Stefano Pioli has at his disposal, with Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic the starting trio, then Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze able to enter from the bench.

A player that must also be considered is Theo Hernandez, who scored again yesterday to open his account for the season after a gorgeous through ball from Leao.

The 4-3-3 is an over-simplified version of how Milan line up, because the team are deployed in a very attacking manner on the pitch. There isn’t a formation that can give an accurate representation with numbers, but the pitch does the talking.

Reijnders and Loftus-Cheek play high up, Pulisic is free to create, Leao is deadly on the left and Theo moves into the middle of the pitch to start the action. It is certainly a fluid Milan that leaves no points of reference.

Giroud is the only one who doesn’t swap positions or leaves the opposition chasing him. His job is to be found in the box, ready to hurt the opposition if the wingers and midfielders get into dangerous positions.

AC Milan have reached an agreement in principle with Antwerp over the sale of Fode Ballo-Toure, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are continuing to try and find a destination for Ballo-Toure and they want at least €4m for a permanent sale. In the last few hours, an agreement in principle has been reached with Belgian champions Antwerp.

Milan is pushing to sell Ballo-Touré to Antwerp but the player is not open to the idea because he wants to reopen the talks with Werder Bremen.

The left-back had put the German club on hold because he wants to return to Ligue 1 but at present there are no concrete offers from there. That’s why he now considers a transfer to the Bundesliga more attractive than the offer from Antwerp.

Despite a long negotiation that has been going on for at least a month, Milan have not yet found an agreement with Werder Bremen because they want a loan with option to buy and the Rossoneri are insisting it be an obligation.

A new set of talks between Ballo-Toure’s agent and the Milan management is expected in the next few days to try to find a solution that satisfies all the parties involved.

AC Milan are working on outgoings as well as potential incomings in the final few days of the window, and Alexis Saelemaekers’ situation needs to be resolved.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) talks about the Belgian, who has ended up in the sights of Bologna despite the fact they have signed Ndoye and Karlsson for the wings and Orsolini renewed.

Nicolas Dominguez could also leave Bologna with Nottingham Forest interested, and that could help raise funds for them to sign another forward.

Saelemaekers also has Real Betis on his tail, a team that has the advantage of playing in the Europa League. This is something that puts the former Anderlecht man in a position of preferring the LaLiga club.

Bologna will try and insist and they have a loan formula in mind, though it remains to be seen whether this will convince Milan or not.

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has shed some light on his plan to integrate all of the new signings, and stressed the importance of movement off the ball to open up compact sides.

Milan put four past Torino last night en route to their second win in two games to open up the Serie A campaign. Christian Pulisic got the first, an Olivier Giroud penalty re-established the lead, while Theo Hernandez and another Giroud spot kick out the game beyond doubt.

Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game against Torino to reflect on what was another night of success for his team, and we have transcribed his comments below.

“We need to think that each game helps us to develop, to get to know each other better and improve on what we prepare in training. It’s clear that, today, we played better than we did against Bologna,” he said.

“We need to keep this work up and make use of every day in training, and every match to always improve.”

Pioli was asked by the interviewer about how the Milan players were constantly moving around the field and away from their ‘normal’ position.

“This is normal against an opponent like Torino. We were in position and all of us were marked. By baiting them up the pitch and moving a lot, we created 1v1s where our players could show their quality.

“Movement without the ball is really important. We did it well tonight and Mike had a lot of time to make a decision. He made the right choice pretty much every time. It gave us a good base to try and cause them issues.”

There were San Siro debuts for a few different players including Tijjani Reijnders, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic as well as substitutes Noah Okafor, Samuel Chukwueze and Yunus Musah.

“The team is happy when they play at San Siro. I’m pleased for the new guys who got to have that experience for the first time because getting to the stadium, earning up, hearing the fans support us for 90 minutes in a game is an incredible feeling.

“I’ve always thought, to get things working, there needs to be balance, a give and take between the team and the fans. We try to give everything that we’ve got to make our fans happy because they deserve the very best.

“They’re further along than the other new players but as soon as I’m able I’ll give minutes to the rest… Okafor, Musah, Chukwueze. You can train, train, train, but only playing helps you to understand your team-mates, your opponents and the difficulties of Italian football. We’ll try to bring them in.

“The players need to rest, celebrate the win, and we need to prepare for the next game because it’s the last game before the first break and we want to play well in Rome too.”

Lyon have come forward an expressed an interest in Rade Krunic but Stefano Pioli seems to have made the club’s stance on the midfielder clear.

Krunic has been sought by Fenerbahce in recent weeks, but MilanNews report that there was also a delegation from the French club there to observe the Bosnian during last night’s game between Milan and Torino.

However, Pioli made it clear that in his eyes the former Empoli man is not on the market. He spoke to Sky after the match and was asked by the reporter: “Will Krunic stay?” To which Pioli replied: “Yes.”

Krunic is clearly an important part of the plans given that he has started both of Milan’s opening two games of the season at the base of the midfield three.

Given that the days are ticking by and so is the time to potentially replace Krunic, the likelihood of him leaving continues to decline.

AC Milan remain interested in signing Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain but he is increasingly likely to stay, a report claims.

According to the latest from Téléfoot, Eintracht Frankfurt have reopened discussions with PSG about Ekitike in the last few hours while they are also in talks over a deal – albeit separate – that would see Randal Kolo Muani go the other way.

Ekitike has been linked with a number of different clubs this summer including West Ham United and RC Lens too, but it was Everton who agreed a deal with the Ligue 1 side for €40m before he rejected the destination.

The source claims that Eintracht Frankfurt want a loan with option to buy deal for the former Stade de Reims star and would not consider a permanent deal at present.

However, PSG might open up to the idea if they are able to get Kolo Muani. Milan remain ‘in ambush’ but it is also mentioned that the idea of Ekitike staying in the French capital is becoming increasingly likely.

The signing of Christian Pulisic was met with a mixture of intrigue and excitement, but few predicted that he would start life in Italy as well as he has.

MilanNews write that Pulisic has had a dream start to being a Milan player with a stunning goal against Bologna in the first game and the opener against Torino last night.

Milan bet on the USA international, who arrived having been reserve for Chelsea and he cost €20m. So far he has showcased all the talent that he had made the Blues fall in love with him when he was just 18 years old and sign him for €60m.

Thanks to his technical and tactical characteristics, Pulisic has fit right in. His ability to move across the entire frontline is also an added bonus, given that in preseason we saw him play on the left and the right.

Now Pioli deploys him as a right winger in the 4-3-3 formation, but perhaps due to his flexibility and perhaps at the request of Pioli, he ends up taking up a very central position.

The goal in Bologna came from an exchange with Giroud in a central area, and he made a run deep into the box to make it 1-0 last night too.

It seems there is a nice complimentary relationship forming between Pulisic and Rafael Leao too. The Portuguese winger is unstoppable when he accelerates down the left, while the American is also a good ball carrier but perhaps has other more technical attributes.

Two game situations that allowed the team to open up spaces and always find themselves in numerical superiority, thus helping the midfielders to free themselves and enter more easily. And then the one with Giroud who has already been around since his Chelsea days: the two communicate without speaking, they know each other’s movements by heart and this makes it easier for the team to become dangerous in the box.
