23 million people in Tanzania do not have access to safe water. Typically, women and children spend over two hours a day collecting water, and up to seven hours in remote areas.

Access to toilets is even lower – at around 15% of the population. This is particularly problematic to health in densely populated, unplanned settlements.

AS the World commemorated World Toilet Day yesterday, WaterAid Tanzania called for the government intervention on improvement of urban sanitation after a new report ranking Tanzania 12th in the world for having the greatest percentage of urban dwellers living without safe, private toilets.
In rural only, not urban, so being rural they go to vichaka and their waste turns into fertilizer to nourish the natural vegatatiin

You have different perception of rural. In some rural areas they have nice houses and septic tanks for the waste. Kuwa rural si kumaanisha unaenda vichakani, kama ndivyo mnafanya Tanzania nawahurumia. Plus those who dont have flush toilets have pit latrines
