If Current Growth Rate Remains Constant, Tanzania Will Overtake Kenya GDP in 2038

What about after 1977. I'm talking about the 80s, 90s, until now. In 1993, the gdp gap was $1.5 billion. Today it is over $20 billion. Yet Tanzania has not had any major political crisis. Moi took Kenya to the dogs, 2008 violence nearly finished us, but Tanzania is still blaming their state on the old EAC.
The only way we benefited from EAC collapse was with Kenya Airways. And it was not even the giant it is today. I think there were only 3 planes. And mind you, Kenya was shouldering the losses of EA Airways for years before the collapse. So it's like we were just taking back our money.
Hujajibu swili, how many times Kenya has experience negative growth compare to Tanzania? Kama hujuwi tuambie tuu.

Even with our negative growth, the gdp gap continues to increase. This trend will continue for many years. 2 years of slowed growth, then 5 years of super growth.

I get it, you don't know anything about negative growth. But for the benefit of us who thinks differently from your theory, tell us when did Kenya had (as you call it) "super growth". Not even five, let's say for three consecutive years? The key word here is super the likes of China or Ethiopia 10%. Because 0% to 7% isn't enough to decrease the level of unemployment or lift people out of poverty.

Kenyans and Tanzanians are different people culturally and ideologically while Tanzanians are generally lazy like the coastal Kenyans and depend so much and have faith in the goverment, Kenyans on the other hand are very aggressive where it comes to business and every issue...they do not depend in the goverment nor have faith in goverment and that is why they exert pressure in the goverment for change to occur through NGOs, Private sector and other organizations such as COTU and well learned that is why Magufuli or Museveni leadership cannot succeed in Kenya because people know their constitutional rights. kenya has a devolved governance compared to Tanzania centralized regime and everyone knows the positive development that devolution has led in Kenya with cities springing up in every county and every county being opened up to development hence doing away with marginilization..this factors among others is what will make it difficult for Tanzania to surpass Kenya in the near future

It will be ingesting to know if 2010 was that a real GDP or nominal GDP, and why the pace could not be maintained?? Tupatie jibu.

I thought Kenya should've learn its lesson by now that you can't rely on things which are not yours, how many multinational stayed away after 2008 political turmoil? Unless your agree to kiss the west back side, multinational will always remain to be unreliable. Mjifunze kutunza ideas za kwenu (indigenous innovation), not sitting down waiting for idea thought elsewhere. Sometimes hizo idea zinafaa huko huko kwao na sio Africa.

Saa zingine wee huongea kama mwehu. Hizi what do Tanzanians own in Dar yenye unatupea kisomo on how we should have our own? Especially the black Tanzanians? And who told you Kenya's economy is dependent on multinationals?

The next I'm expecting you to say is global worming isn't real. Yani drought of 2 years will not affect the river flow??? Really??? Hebu go and tell that to the elephants in Amboseli who dies everyday for luck of water. Nairobians are struggling to get reliable water supply wewe usema all is well. Wow...

Usikimbie mada, you mention tea coffee livestoke etc, na mimi i told you no one is sleeping we're doing it as well. The chances are Tanzania to get far with kind of financial discipline inayojengwa in Tanzania right now.
Kwa hivo wewe ushakua Mungu unajua drought itaaffect tu Kenya huku Tanzania ikibakia salama? Ushajua mito itakauka tu Kenya huku ya Tanzania ikiwa sawa?

It is the real gdp growth rate, inflation is accounted unlike the Tanzanian figures where by you've grown by 7% and above since 2013 but the gdp change in those years was just $3.5bn.

And the growth rate did reduce to 6.1% in 2011 from 8.4% in 2010. But your fall was even larger from an all time high of 8.5% in 2007 to just 5.6% the next year so you are better placed explaining causes of such a drop.

Na nikiongelea multinationals I mean the Kenyan ones. Whatever the crisis, the Kenyan multinationals will never leave. There's hardly any sector completely dominated by foreign bigwigs

But someone do this maths for me ..

In 2015 Tz GDP was 48bn
And has maintained her growth at 7%

Kenya GDP was 63bn Maintaining her growth at 5.6%

How comes in 2017 Kenya GDP is 75bn and Tz's 51bn??

Chakula tunategemea kutoka Tanzania? Do you give it to us for free.
The little food we get from Tanzania we buy. The same way desert countries like UAE buy food from us and other agricultural countries.

Simple: CCM exaggerating figures. Labda growth ni 2%.

Is there a standard definition of Super?
Wewe unapenda dwelling on non-issues. For most countries growing at 1 or 2% or even shrinking, they would consider a growth rate of 6% super.
Alafu who told you 0-7% is not enough to lift people from poverty.
As long as GDP growth is higher than population growth rate, it is enough if you sustain it for many years. Kenya has been growing at that range for the past 15 years, and the per capita has moved from $400 to $1500.

It's because they're for the growth of nominal gdp, not real gdp. Kuna vitu zaitwa inflation na currency devaluations. The 2 are usually not factored in when calculating nominal gdp ndio maana.

Hio yamaanisha Kuna upungufu wa hela mlizokua mwapata kwa kuuza kila Tani ya chuma by 5% so the real growth in money received (gdp) from trade in steel is just 2%

Na ukiangalia the currencies of both Kenya and Tanzania, the Kenyan one has been more stable

Why compare ourselves to Kenya? We want money in our pockets, food on our tables, fees for our children. GDP figures dont help anybody because all the growth is concentrated in the hands of just a few industries, a few bilionaires. Thats why the GDP is rising while poverty is rising amongst the poor
Good point. GDP is a measure of consumption and not well being. Just a bloody number.

I think the only Lazy here are Kenyans,

Why?
1.Tz has been feeding Kenya for Decades.

2.Kenya has been ruled by the Same incompetent Gikuyu thugs/Land grabbers and Public funds thieves since her Independence.

3. 50% of Kenya's Income is consumed by 2% Kenyans. That means even your Huge GDP is meaningless to the poor.

4.
The list is too long.

Where does laziness come to play in your analysis?
1. Kenya has been feeding UAE for years, Kenya has been providing breakfast to the UK for decades.
2. Kenya went to the dogs during Moi's time... a Kalenjin. It is since Kibaki's time (a kikuyu) that we have been giving you sleepless nights.
3. The modern world is more unequal than ever, and not just Kenya. In the world, the 1% have more wealth than the remaining 99%.

Tanzanians are generally slow with no work ethics.

next time before boasting of your shity GDP u must understand your Lovely Kenya is the only middle income country that can not guarantee Food to her people.
Number of Kenyans going hungry doubles to three million

Laziness came from the comment I tagged..

Usibishane na hawa wajinga. Sisi tunaproject nyingi mno about to start. Next year tunaanza kuexport uranium.

Sisi sio saizi yao.
