There are serious reasons as to why the KAA objects to the merger. So the long and short of my post is that people should have a reason to doubt KQ as a scam!! You lease planes that you have not paid for in full…In essence, what you are doing here is inflating the number of planes you ‘own’, that’s why one has to look at it as a scam. I need an educated mind to convince me otherwise.
Babu Owino seems to have a dossier of the scam and that’s why he has all along given the KAA strike unwavering support. This has nothing to do with politics, its economics and there is a reason why it has boiled down to the ownership of the planes!! I’m also wondering whether there’s any SkyTeam member operating on a fleet that is 92.5% leased from other companies or not fully paid for!!
Kenya imports food, then according to you even food you buy from loan, because Kenya borrows money to supplement it's budget deficit?, if your way of reasoning is correct, then Kenya borrows to pay for food, salaries and all other recurrent expenditures.
My point is, if Kenya owns 20 planes based on your press released, then your parliament is useless, that means Kenya as a country is useless, you don't trust your parliament but you trust press release, that's why Kenya is a failed state.

If Kenya was losing a third of it's budget...
1. Teachers, doctors, police, army, civil servants etc. would be going home without salaries.
2. Banks, China and other creditors would not be getting paid on time as they always are.
3. No kind of new infrastructure would be under construction in Kenya right now.

When we repay debt, this is a break down of that 'debt' money.
1. Infrastructure projects that the debt financed.
2. Interest rate.
You keep talking of debt repayment as if its is an abstract thing. You say that when Kenya repays the debt we are left with little to spend.
While in fact, that debt is actually what we spend to build roads, to build rail, to generate electricity, hospitals etc
Debt is part of our development budget.
The only expense to debt is the interest rate we pay.

Debt = development.
For simpletons like you, the budget should be broken down as follows:
1. Recurrent expenditure
2. Development expenditure (Revenue + Loans)
3. Debt interest rates
The true amount we spend to repay loans is only the interest rate. That's less than 10% of the debt.
The rest goes into projects.
For example, when we spend Sh800 billion to repay debt in a year, in reality we have spent about Sh750 billion on infrastructure, and Sh50 billion on the interest rate.
What you don't know is those banks formed a group and have the maximum share in the KQ of more than 38% so they are the part and parcel of the entire company,You should also know that KQ is at different stages of completing these debts.
Even in the unlikely case that KQ goes bankrupt, they would not simply come for their planes.
Debt restructuring would mean consolidating all planes in one basket (those that are 90% paid plus those that are 20% paid).
I'm pretty sure KQ would end up with no less than 10 fully paid planes, by virtue of money spent servicing the debt over the years.
That said, there are 40 planes flying with KQ colours. There are 3 planes flying with ATCL colors.
I give your village airline 15 - 20 years before banks agree to lend it that kind of money.
