Hon Sumaye, Hon Odinga in Boston, together with Tanzanian US Embassy officials, flanked by Ambassador Charles Stith, Director of the African Presidential Centre at Boston University

".............It so happened that whenever diplomatic intervention was required for Hon Sumaye, the Tanzanian First Officer had to act for both his country's former PM and Kenya's former PM. For those in the know, diplomatic protocol can make a big difference in a foreign country.............":frusty:

Is Raila’s USA Tour a ‘badge of honour'? | The Real Deal

the president was somewhere in London was there protocol observed and reported by media that we did observe? Not that there is any problem with this report. I read somewhere that Rao was attending to "other business" just asking

Raila Odinga was not sent there,,in the US,,by the Kenyan government.

Secondly, how does he expect Uhuru Kenyatta to be good to him, when
he, Raila, refused to be present during Uhuru's swearing in ceremony
and he, Raila, chose to go to South Africa when the South African
president was in Nairobi?

He is in the US,,for whatever reason and that has got nothing to do
with many Kenyans nor the Kenyan government.

Everything is going very bad in his own party, the ODM, and here
this man is going around the US giving lectures which will not
benefit any Kenyans.

If i were him,,i will be spending more time in Kenya doing something
about the dying party,,,,,masikini,,O D M.🙂

You miss the gist of this post. Its not about the person of Uhuru or Raila. This is about the warped foreign affairs policy adopted by Kenya government and how it impacts on the country and the ordinary Kenyans.

Raila has nothing to lose when their president acts in his own personal interest as opposed to that of Kenyans.

Many heads of state snubbed Uhuru's swearing in for reasons that are known only too well to you. Many multinationals are quietly divesting from Kenya and the net loss is not to the president as an individual. Tourism is at it lowest and jobs are being lost!

And here you are thinking Raila is the one being punished!

There are many factors you are overlooking and are at play let nobody ever tell you a mzungu and his multinational will will stop making his profits just because off what foreign governments are sayih. Evidently Congo kuna janga kuu kule waafrika wanachinjana but if there are any multinationals doing business there they will stay put. In S Sudan China had brought its military to guard its oil interest despite people killing one another. Somalia the same courtesy of UN....don't think raila will stop the clock for any moment in kenya or africa.....for now let him continue working with the CiA. Where the mzungu has marked economic value there is no way of removing him for diplomatic reasons or I do not know how possible this is. What will happen is that foreign mid size companies may change base to Ethiopia which is the only other stable region apart from Kenya. If sanctions are applied governments will obviously overtax companies in retaliation to the west. If you shift base to other areas there is no guarantee that you will ever get a tax break transferring multinationals. It is not easy due to negative economies of scale... Business to do in Tanzania is hard for starters. It might backfire at the enf

OK I should look for another view but I have answered you somewhere

Is Raila’s USA Tour a ‘badge of honour'? | The Real Deal

Kenya's foreign policy has been localized to a tribal affair...from appointments and how they get their
instructions. There is nothing like protocol when it comes to treating VIP's...lazima simu ipigwe ikulu
before anybody makes a move. Remember the VIP lounge saga where Kimemia was forming in the
mouth about how Raila should be handled...the issue was more personal than what direction the country
should take in such matters.

Ukabila itauwa washamba f'lani katika hii Jamhuri yetu tukufu!

Raila represents the voice of the opposition, now there is some destitution in the camp. he cannot go anywhere and be quiet for three months and attend to his affairs.

This country called Kenya will eventually be laid to rest and the last nail on the coffin put because of TRIBALISM!!!...If people are fighting mpaka nje ya nchi ni aibu tupu...remember when Raila was appointed to spearhead peace in Ivory Coast during Gbagbos affair?.....the very same country that should have seen this as honorable opportunity and rally behind him was busy undermining him......they even refused to support him...aibu tupu!...they can't even separate foreign policy na ukabila..yaani hata ukija kwa diasporans bado a certain group insists on secluding themselves as a tribal outfit and talking in their language...shame shame shame.......God willing Tanzania will emerge as the new leader in the region and it will make the entire region respected because of Tz's broader outlook on foreign policy.

You reap what you plant.

Raila Odinga did not recognize the Jubilee government even when it was being sworn in.

He chose to go away on that very important day of our history.

Yes, some leaders snubbed the swearing in ceremony but all our neighbors and the
most important African leaders led by that of South Africa, were present.

What is more important than that?

Raila had to be present, his case is very different. He was the other running
presidential candidate on that, just concluded, elections.

This was the time to display the kind of a person he was.

A true democratic, a true leader who practiced what he preached.

He had to show Kenyans that laws and the constitution must be followed.

He must be the one,,together with Mwai kibaki, transferring power to the coming
and new government, he as the former prime minister and co principle in the last
government of Kenya.

But he chose to do the opposite, he run away to South Africa and refused the thought that
there was a new government in Kenya when he was not the one running it. Now he and his
supporters wants the same government to recognize him as a former leader, accord him all
the respects when himself never showed none to the new government.

If you plant cassava, don't expect to reap Mangoes.

Kwani, hivyo ndivyo ilivyo.

Kenya will never be built by the multinational but Kenyans themselves.

These multinationals, cannot give employment to all those who needs it.

They are business people looking for profits and not to help anybody so
we better start helping ourselves sooner than later.

It is them saying it, that Kenya will be one of those countries which
will be moving to a real middle class economy by 2030.

We are on the right track,,,Kenya must be in the hands of those who
will serve Kenyan interests and not the foreigners'.

Raila must spend most of his time in Kenya taking care of many things
which are not right, especially in his own backyard and not serve the
interests of foreigners by mentoring their 'young leaders' in their own
countries and expect to be offered a motorcade by the government of
Kenya, while there.

That should be done by the US government.:smiling:

There are many things Raila can do in Kenya, even without being a president,
for if you do good in this world, you will be honored without you not knowing
it.

But if you fight for honor without working for it,,,you get the opposite.

support on what grounds, just before the 2007/8 PEV fire died down, he had flown somewhere else in ivory coast issuing threats to the loser of the ivory coast election, he is simply becoming someone who has offered himself for sale to get rewards, accolades badges and foreign recognition.

in this regard we must be told whether he chose to ignore kenyan embassy officials . the only card that remains is stab where kenya is making gains in this case the foreign policy from the back.

avenues that he is deciding to use are becoming ineffective because his foes have now faced east.

From your post najua ni mkikuyu thats why you wouldn't want to work with your brothers......personally Ifeel hako kanchi cobbled together by the British will not survive...kwa sababu ya tabia mbaya ya ukabila......soon tutaona crimea style need for self determination....including the NFD/Somalis and the Coast also entire Western region....msipobadilika....Your reply to my post is irrelevant!...TRIBALISM reaks in your post and its a virus that is alive in your blood kama inavyoonekana kwenye maandishi yako hapo......in reality the ignore button is on for your hopeless sinking country.....even the tourists are keeping away....zero employment and dismal economic growth figures.....insecuirty, corruption...mmeipiku Nigeria in that LO!...and by the way ALSHABAB are coming full swing hahah......lets sit back and watch the cookie crumbling.

''Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has extended his visit to the US by one more month, in a move that could cause anxiety among his supporters.

On Tuesday, Mr Odinga is slated to deliver a lecture on "Africa's Transformations and Challenges" at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs of Princeton University. On Wednesday, the ODM leader will fly to North Carolina to give a lecture.
