Meanwhile rocket fire from Gaza continued to target southern Israel, with two wounded in Ashkelon following a missile strike in the city. The death toll of IDF soldiers killed in the Gaza ground operation rose to 46, with the military clearing for publication the names of two soldiers killed on Monday.

The military said that troops of its 7th Armored Brigade and Golani Infantry Brigade captured several Hamas governmental sites in the Gaza City neighborhoods of Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal.
