They don't spend less in Kenya. In Kenya we only factor government revenue. In Tanzania you calculate the total amount spend which is absurd - an American comes to Dar and spends $10,000 at Sheraton hotel and you guys think that's what Tanzania gets from him? Lol, you don't even realize Sheraton is American and most of that money goes back to America.

Every step a tourist take on Tanzanian soil is tax. From airport, to tour van, hotel, parks, internal flights, marine etc. And that $10,000 you mention by the time tourist leave the country, that money stays in our economy. Kenya must be very extra ordinary county with extra ordinary accounting skills to think that Kenya Tourism Board only calculated the money government collect and that it. I'll suggest you check with KTB for clarification of that matter.

Hata Kenya is doing the same, the world over is doing the same. By definition tourism revenues estimates are a compilation of all tourism-related expenditures made by non-resident visitors and travelling within the province or country. Sasa hii self made-up idea sijuwi umeitoa wapi.

Dude.....you guys need economics classes.
There's is what we call contribution to GDP. That's the total value of services and goods an industry generates within its country's borders. This is where all the money spent by a tourist in a country is calculated.

We then have government revenue. That's the exact amount the government collects from a certain industry.

The problem with you Tanzanians is you take your contribution to GDP figures and compare them with our government revenue figures and claim you're doing better. If you compare your confrcontrion to GDP figures with our contribution to GDP figures, we are still ahead. Look at the figure below and please don't make me open a thread about this.

Kenya made $1.2bn 2017, with all goods and services you couldn't even break $2bln
So all those years when EAC finances ministers sit down and discuss each others budgets, GoT is taking GoK GDP tourist revenue compare with overall goods and services providers to Tanzania tours. Saa nyingine naona kama unakuja hapa kupoteza muda hapa. Hivi inajuwa how much it cost for holiday package in Tanzania or Kenya that where you'll know any Tanzania earn more than Kenya.

$2.5 billion is 2016 DIRECT contribution to GDP
$6.7 billion is 2016 TOTAL contribution to GDP.

Tourism plays a bigger role in Tz than in kenya but ofcourse 8.3% of $56bn is bigger than 17% of 78bn
