-The Assistant Minister for Sport Kabando wa Kabando earlier today announced that he is resigning from his post in the Ministry with immediate effect.
Kabando, the immediate former Member of Parliament for Mukurweini, also revealed that he had officially handed in his resignation letter on Wednesday. He added that he had already surrendered his Ministry vehicles, drivers and staff.
While announcing his resignation, Kabando dived into some politics by saying that he did not want to be part of another Coalition Government born out of blood and death of innocents.
Kabando also called on other Ministers and Assistant Ministers that had not yet resigned to do so quickly so that they can take up new roles.
Kabandos resignation further underlines the split in Government as regards whether or not the seating Ministers and Assistant Ministers should resign.
Head of Civil Service Francis Kimemia and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have disagreed on the matter. Kimemias position as directed by President Mwai Kibaki is that the Ministers should leave office but the PM says that the resignations are likely to cause a power vacuum. Attorney General Githu Muigai agrees with Railas position.
