Plant’s Executive Director Xu Xing da, revealed the plan on Monday at the just-ended Coast Region investment week forum, which was wrapped up by the Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Exaud Kigahe.
The investor said the plant is committed to contribute to the industrialisation process in the country as well as support the government and CCM’s election manifesto on youth employment.
“The project is expected to create about 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in response to the Tanzanian Development Vision 2025 that in one way or the other will boost the industrialisation sector,” he said.
He added that the project is expected to manufacture 300 RVs annually coupled with provision of several camp facilities located in the tourism circuits in the country.
“The overall objective of the project is to promote, optimize and modernize the tourism industry in Tanzania and improve tourism services and products for both domestic and international market,” he said, adding that the plant will also have economic linkages to the integrated iron and steel project in Njombe.
Xing da, said while the specific objective is to set up an automobile plant for local manufacturing of Recreational Vehicles (RVs) it will also include construction of modern and environmental friendly camp facilities to support RV tour projects in Tanzania.
Wrapping up the forum, Kigahe urged the company’s management to ensure that strategies put ahead are bold enough to ensure that the company is established so as to enhance employment and promote tourism in the country.
He, however added that the government will ensure that it offers full support as it widens its plan to support the industrial sector in the country.
