Mere governors in Kenya are building bigger and better projects than the entire national government of Tanzania.

Hii ndio hospitali mpya Kakamega nearing completion.

Thanks to the new constitution and devolution, we don't have to worship the president so that he can build a hospital. Just for comparison purposes, check out this video. It's like a throwback to when moi was president.

Those are just the facts, it's sad you have a problem with facts.

Devolution is working, only a few governors are sleeping on their duty but a lot of them are working very hard to catch up to Nairobi.

Makueni county has also built a mango processing factory for their farmers that exports mango puree to europe.


Apart from the mango factory they have also built a dairy factory for their dairy farmers.


Makueni county is also currently constructing recreational facilities like the Wote Green public park below.

He is also currently building an ultra modern dairy processing factory in Malava sub county , a tea factory in shinyalu and plans for a maize milling factory in Lugari.

Kakamega county government is doing bigger and more impactful projects than their National government. I am not suprised at all.

That was actually the reason devolution created the governors position. It was to be a nursery for future presidents. In my opinion Oparanya, Kivutha Kibwana are outperforming their peers in impactful development projects that directly benefit their citizens.
In Kakamega I know majority wish the two terms limit was not there for governors. They fear whoever will take the seat next might not be as diligent as Oparanya.

During his first term Oparanya distributed dairy cows to families headed by women. Five years down the line, he is building a dairy factory after accumulating data on milk output from the cows he distributed.
A less mentioned part of his legacy includes "Oparanya care" for pregnant women who get free prenatal and postnatal medical services right at the village level including cash transfers.
He started it even before the national government thought of universal health care.
