Champions of the Nigeria Premier League, Kano Pillars, have finally been beaten at home. In a game played on Sunday, Pillars were humbled 2-1 by Nasarawa United.
The home side were able to name Super Eagles striker, Gambo Mohammed, for the first time in their squad, after he recovered from gun shot wounds sustained during an armed robbery attack.
Pillars began the game brightly, but failed to convert their many chances, until Mannir Ubale stunned them with the opening goal in the 12th minute. Before they could respond, Ubale turned provider, setting up Yari Bature to make it 2-0.
Although Rabiu Ali pulled one back after the break, there was little or nothing the champions could do, as their streak, which lasted 12 years and 44 days and spanned 202 games came to an end.
