Nikiweka ushindani pembeni, nadhani Kenya wamefanya maamuzi mazuri ya kuweka pembeni huu mradi, na wanaweza kuokowa fedha nyingi tuu kama wakibaki na treni za diesel. kwasababu hakuna uthubitisho wowote kama wakiwa na treni ya umeme kwasasa itawaongezea mapato au ufanisi wa SGR.

Tanzania tokea mwanzo tulikuwa na mpango wa treni ya umeme. Mimi nilianza kusikia mambo ya treni ya umeme tokea muhula wa kwanza ya Mkapa. Na yote hii kwasababu Tanzania tulijiamini kuwa na uwezo wa kuzalisha umeme mwingi wa kutosha kama tukikamilisha mikakati yote. Mpango ulio mezani hivi sasa, ni kufikia MW elfu kumi (10,000) mwaka 2025.

Kenya wanaweza kuurudua huu mradi kama kuna demand na uwezo wa uzalishaji umeme wa kutosha. Kwanza wanaweza hata kutafuta kisima kimoja cha mafuta na kuzalisha "fuel oil" yao ya kuendesha SGR tu.

There had been earlier concerns on how the Uganda and Kenya SGR lines will connect when one is electric and the other is diesel but the Uganda SGR Project Coordinator Kasingye Kyamugambi says the two countries have in the interim worked out an interchange model at the Uganda-Kenya border for the two systems to connect seamlessly as we wait for Kenya to electrify.

He welcomed the re-affirmation by Kenya to electrify SGR by 2021 adding that the two countries have continued to work closely to harmonise different aspects of the Proect as envisioned in the NCIP – SGR protocol

50 MW ni expansion of phase 1. Phase 2 (240MW) is coming online pia kwa awamu na itakuwa fully online by end of this year.

ni 160 but not as safe as class one and class 2...goodluck lakini najua ile kicheko tutawacheka itakua ya mwaka

Yah after reading that report on Ethiopian rail I see the logic in going diesel..... Just the other day we had a national blackout which lasted upto 7hours, these are the things we need to sort out first
