Frankly speaking Kenyan Government is more open minded when comes to running economic operations like these , it is what it is , We are lagging far behind them , we are not strategic , yes we have a lot of tourist attractions in our country than they do but they can leverage that opportunity to their advantage , most of Tanzanian foreign tourists comes from US and Europe , Air Tanzania doesn't have any aviation operation in those areas , so Kenyan Airways will act as a bridge between our country and those areas , I do believe this will pour millions of US dollars in Kenyan economy per year , something which could have even happened to our nation only if we would be smarter and strategic thinkers like them.............

I can't image someone will think most corrupt government is the role model to be followed. Uless you chose to ignore the fact that GoK being a major KQ shareholder, did allowed KQ to take expensive loans and turn the company into loss making machine.

2006 KQ share value was Kshs 160, today is less than Kshs 12. I don't want to spoil fun in here, but ultra long flight are not for everyone, some people are not made to sit on the flight for 15hrs, plus you need two set of crews on each flight, that two time expensive. SAA and Ethiopian airline are operating US route very well, they fly to a third country before continued to US, this way you can carry maximum cargo and passenger payload, and less fuel to carry each leg and no double crew on board.

The first flight KQ003 from New York JFK to Nairobi JKIA is just taxing and taking off! In about 14h30 it’s going to land in Nairobi!

And this is the crew flying the KQ003 from JFK today.

There were some state captures who wanted to run down the airline and buy it cheap but government made a step of restructuring and KQ is about to break even
