The Ministry of Health on Thursday announced that the country had confirmed 178 more positive cases of coronavirus from 3,918 samples tested within the last twenty four hours.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, speaking during the launch of a call centre at the Kenya National Hospital (KNH), said this brings the total number of COVID-19 infections to 5,384
According to Dr. Mwangangi, all except three of the new cases are foreign nationals aged between 1 and 76 years old.
The distribution of the new cases in terms of counties was as follows: Nairobi (100), Kajiado (21), Migori (17), Kiambu (16), Busia (8), Mombasa (7), Machakos (4), Nakuru (2), Uasin Gishu (1), Kericho (1), Taita Taveta (1)
The CAS also announced that the ministry had discharged 34 patients from various health centers hence bringing the number of recoveries to 1,857
Two patients also succumbed to the disease, taking the tally of fatalities to 132.
