Kenya Election 2007: Outcomes

M-N,

Unless other MPs from small parties join ODM, there is very a small chance a passing a vote of no confidence. It needs 144 MP to pass the vote, so far ODM can get up to 110.

The election of a speaker will need 144 votes in the first and second trials, if for the first two trials no one gets 144 (two third), then a speaker is elected by a simple majority. If all other parties join Kibaki, then Kibaki can get his speaker through coz they can get 112 votes over 110 possible ODM votes.

As I said in the other thread, Kibaki is there to stay for now (unfortunately) unless something dramatic happens.

I am depressed right now and getting militant day after day!

Wakenya huwa ni wajanja lakini wamemkuta Kibaki.

Huyu jamaa naona amehamua kuwaburuza hata bila kufuata sheria kabisa.

Hata kwenye hivyo vyama vingine kama ODM-K na KANU nina uhakika some are not happy na hivyo they may vote for ODM na hivyo bado kuna room ya kujaribu vote of no confidence.

Believe me!

Their days are numbered, na watafutika kwenye ramani completely na kuanza upya na generation mpya.

This will be a historical event in a near future.

A run-off election is the only logical option, the rest is mazingaombwe.

Kitila,

Hivyo Raila kwa sasa angetoa tena kama muda wa wiki hivi wa negotiation na kama isipo work out then arudishe tena maandamano barabarani toward uhuru park..mpaka kieleweke la sivyo jamaa anaanza kutangaza serikali yake..nini...etc

-Wemb

Hakuna cha election run-off wala nini.

United Nations diverts aid from Somalis to Kenyans 09 Jan 2008 09:59:24 GMT
Source: Reuters

By Duncan Miriri

NAIROBI, Jan 9 (Reuters) - The United Nations has diverted aid intended for refugees from anarchic Somalia to help Kenya, a country which until less than two weeks ago was widely seen as a bastion of stability in a turbulent region.

Around 500 people have died and at least 255,000 fled their homes in Kenya since chaos erupted following the disputed result of an election on Dec. 27.

"We have shifted 24 tonnes of blankets and soap from our warehouses in Dadaab refugee camp in northeastern Kenya ... they are now here in Nairobi," Emmanuel Nyabera, spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, said on Wednesday.

Dadaab houses refugees from the conflict in Somalia, where Ethiopian and transitional government troops are fighting Islamist insurgents. Nyabera said the agency would start distributing to families in various parts of Nairobi, where riots and political killings, mostly in the slums, have left many homeless.

Thousands of women and children have been camping on open ground in Nairobi after gangs forced political rivals and other ethnic groups from their neighbourhoods and torched houses.

"Considering that Kenya has played host to refugees for years and years, we thought it our obligation to also intervene in the Kenya humanitarian situation," Nyabera said.

The United Nations is also shipping in supplies from regional stockpiles in Dubai and Tanzania to help Kenyan refugees around the country.

U.N. agencies have long used Kenya as an operational hub to help volatile neighbouring states. But officials from the world body have expressed concern that the crisis in Kenya could cut a humanitarian lifeline to hundreds of thousands of refugees.

Is it possible that Hon. Raila Odinga can accept the post of being the prime misnister of kenya while he plus ODM believe that it is Raila who won the poll and Kibaki just manipulated?
Will Raila accept to be the number 3 in the governmental forum just after Kalonzo Musyoka and his greates opponent Mwai Kibaki?
Haya wana Jambo, Kazi kwenu kuchangia mawazo yenu.

We need Democracy.Kibaki dont think all Africans are foolish and can not detect your illigal trends of dictatorship.Grandsons in the next generations will ask you this.If you werent be there, your children and grand children will bear the cost of this burden you are trying to put in kenya

After the mediation i advice if the result is not favourable to ODM, then conduct an endless demonstration. Just distabilize the political situation.

Raila akibali tu yaishe na ODM iwe effective opposition! We need a strong and effective oppostion pia!

Sasa leo kipi kipya anachokuja nacho Kibaki?

Kenya crisis talks end in failure

Talks conducted by Ghanaian President John Kufuor to end Kenya's political crisis have broken down, opposition and government sources have said.
Mr Kufuor had been hoping to broker a deal between President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga after last month's disputed elections.

However, Mr Kufuor said both sides had agreed to work together under a panel headed by ex-UN chief Kofi Annan.

About 600 people have died in unrest which followed the poll.

In addition to those killed, some 250,000 are feared displaced by the violence following the 27 December election in Kenya - previously seen as a relative beacon of stability in East Africa.

'Eminent personalities'

A government spokesman confirmed that Mr Kufuor was leaving the country with no sign of success.

Both sides agreed there should be an end to the violence and they also agreed there should be dialogue

John Kufuor

Tough task for Kenya diplomacy

He had spent hours in a meeting with Mr Odinga but had been unable to persuade him to meet Mr Kibaki, the spokesman said.

But the Ghanaian president seemed more upbeat.

"The parties agreed to work together with a panel of eminent African personalities headed by Mr Kofi Annan... towards resolving their differences and all other outstanding issues including constitutional and electoral reforms," he said.

"Both sides agreed there should be an end to the violence and they also agreed there should be dialogue."

Mr Kibaki maintains he won the election fairly, but Mr Odinga says it was stolen.

Earlier Mr Kibaki swore in members of a new cabinet, though some minor posts have been left vacant leading to speculation that these could be offered to the opposition.

Mr Odinga has so far refused to recognise the cabinet or participate in a government of national unity.

Same old story....

Hii itakuwa inapigwa mpira, mara Kofi Annan, Kufour, mara Condi, mpaka 2012.

Raila, anzisha your second move. This b..s isn't working so far!
