inconsistencies noted, food and immorality dont weigh on the same scale. Its universally accepted that homosexuality for africans is a non starter and was only imported. I chose to say african culture so as not to impose my beliefs on anyone. By gawd, if somehow my grandpa reads this he will be disappointed in Kenya, some secular xtics are crazy, if a bill finds its way to parliament it will be the equivalent of the Ugandan penal code, borrow a leaf from them. If we as a country keep rooting for immorality we will reign on a society that lacks the requiste fibre for moderation. This is bad, really bad.... The constitution acknowleges the union of a man and a woman, defaming the constitution to further ths thread is really demeaning and unfair to a constitution that protects the institution of marriage.

Should Muslims ask for legislation that makes the wearing the Burka, fasting during Ramadhan and praying 5 times a day compulsory in Kenya because it is compulsory in Islam and women that dont cover up are considered immoral!? YOU CAN NOT IMPOSE YOUR MORALITY, CULTURE OR WORLD VIEW ON OTHERS!

In 7th century Africa, a majority of women were circumcised in a ceremony that involved the cutting off of a young girl's clitoris and sewing up of the Vagina leaving only a small space for urination. If your great, great grandfather was alive he would be shocked that a majority of women, including your mother, sister and girlfriend, are not circumcised. Female genital mutilation is an African practice does that mean we have to pass legislation seeking the circumcision of all women???

Homosexuality is as African as anything else it is the homophobia brought by religions that were brought to the African continent by the slave masters and the colonialists that is not African.

Listen my friend, no one is talking about marriage and if there is anyone who is defaming the constitution it is you by attempting to turn impose your faith and morality on everyone!

Respect everyones right to be and dont impose your morality or culture on anyone. If you are against homosexuality, you are free to say so but dont expect everyone to live by your or your grandfathers code of faith, morality or ethics! We live in a diverse world and Kenya is not Saudi Arabia or Al Shabaab's Somalia!

eish, mekatilili you are a bright guy, get the gist, 'this aint hollywood', its africa. Inherit the best from the west and abolish the worst in your backyard. Not borrowing the filth too. Scope ua thinking to relevance and this has nothing to do with Islam and am not one.. Am curious, are you Gay? Keep the activism up, mayb you will be recognised but not soon. Not in this lifetime, u are dreaming of a sodom on earth to say the least. please pray before you sleep and hope u aint Gay, I DESPISE WITH ABSOLUTE FINALITY.

I would suggest reading chapter 4 of that constitution!

this has been mind opening for me..atta boys!

Africa’s Gays running to Kenya
gay-men-in-africa-190x190.jpg

Remember that infamous Ugandan Gay couple, John and Paul? The ones that kept getting death threats if they did not straighten up their act- pun intended! If you do then you might be passing them by at the mall or the supermarket some time soon. We just learned that the couple has been in Nairobi since May of last year.

You see, all was well for gays in Uganda until an anti-homosexuality bill caused a wave of homophobia in Uganda. John and Paul could no longer hold hands in the streets of the capital Kampala and kiss in night clubs and more nightmare crept in when people began insulting and assaulting gays and they had to run away to Kenya.

gayuganda-newspaper.jpg

In December, President Barack Obama said that fighting discrimination against gays should be at the forefront of American diplomacy. In Kampala, people did not know gays existed until a member of parliament in 2009 proposed strengthening the law against homosexuality, which could already lead to a life sentence in prison. Many Ugandans demonstrated against gay people and sighted that they are not human beings to an extent that they could not buy from shopkeepers!

Worse was to come when a screaming tabloid headline encouraged its readers to “HANG” homosexuals and in October 2010 published the names, photos and addresses of more than 20 gays.

Now, just like Somali refugees come to Dadaab, Ugandan Gay refugees are being hosted by none other than the one country that hosts all our neighbours’ problems. Kenya is fast gaining a reputation as a Gay Haven. The country has a number of Gay rights organizations that Africans are using to seek refuge in Kenya. Perhaps we should embrace GAY Tourism!

Ad hominem. Yes this is Africa, the land where millions are killing each other and dying of hunger but the most pressing issue to you is what consenting adults choose to do with their penises or vaginas.

I hope your appreciate the subjectivity of your loaded statement. One man's filth (pig) is another man's meat (pork). The bill of rights is in black and white in our constitution and since you have evaded all the questions I posed I would suggest you start by circumcising the females in your family, in your quest for African heritage.

My sexuality is my personal business. You are free to say "DESPISE WITH ABSOLUTE FINALITY" those that are gay, it is within your right, enshrined in the constitution that you obviously havent read but remember even Jesus accepted Mary Magdaline for who she was and your dogma dictates that there is a creator that will do the judgment on the day of judgment not you! If you attempt to impose your faith as many have violently done before, I am happy we have a constitution, a law of the land that will see to it that you pay for it.

I repeat....

Respect everyones right to be and dont impose your morality or culture on anyone. If you are against homosexuality, you are free to say so but dont expect everyone to live by your or your grandfathers code of faith, morality or ethics! Everyone should join me in encouraging Askari Kanzu to come out of the closet it is okay...

Dont you have anything better to do? Askari Kanzu! Why the obsession with what consenting adults do with their genitals. This is a waste of thread in your attempt to soil Kenya's name in the face of your fellow bigoted gang busters.
Askari Kanzu must be gay and is using this information to divert attention from his insatiable urge to be with those he truly loves (men) otherwise I just don understand the obsession with what consenting adults do with their genitals. Come out of the closet Askari Kanzu!

I thought you folks have bigger problems to worry about:
  1. Tanzania has the worst education system in the region (Umoja report)
  2. Tanzania has the fastest growing slum population in Africa (UN report)
  3. Over exploitation of your resources by foreign companies (only 4% of your minerals worth is left in TZ)
  4. Witchcraft (Loliondo)
  5. Tanzania is the least democratic in the region (Led by 1 party since independence)
  6. Xenophobia
  7. Albino parts trade
  8. Domination by SA, KE, UG, RW, Europe, China and USA
just to name a few. Focus on those problems first before displaying your ignorance and your obsession with what consenting adults do with their genitals.

Whether you like it or not homosexuality is prevalent all over Africa, Tanzania has a big population of same sex partners (people like Askari Kanzu) and denying their existence or focusing on Kenya as usual will not succeed.

My personal opinion is that this is an issue for the Kenyan constitution and should not be dictated by the church or the mosque. The government has no place in our bedrooms and no one should impose their morality on others. I believe everyone is equal and I am happy that, compared to many African countries kenya has a more civil approach to this issue.

Come out of the closet Askari Kanzu

hahaha, mekatilili i will laugh this one off. Not all african cultures in africa and to be precise Kenya practise circumsicion. I objectively left out your statements coz they have little bearing with the issue at hand in an african setting. i dont entertain gayism so does the law of Kenya, What CAP are you reading that legitimises homosexuality? Non i tell u does acknowlegde them. as a kenyan brother, i have nothing against the Gay community as long as they do it behind their closet. I wouldnt mind seeing a nairobian kissing on the street with his girlfriend but if i see two guys you can tell what the kenyan mindset can do. Its about morals, the accepted code of behaviour. theas a fine line between consciousness and being sick in the head.

Hapa sasa unaanza kuongea kwa mantiki ya kizungu. Na bado, mkitaka kupendwa na wazungu itabidi mkubali mengi tu zaidi ya hii inshu ya ushoga. Ndio maana ninasema shauri yenu. Mnayataka wenyewe!

this is what i hope kenya becomes. a country where the government doesnt dictate what people do in the privacy of their homes.

let us live our lives whichever way we want and let God do the judging. the problems with us africans is that we want to assume the role of God and judge other people.
hebu tueleze vizuri....u does not sound straight! Vp break the ice!

Let us regain our lost freedom of thinking, let us live by our own willing not by western thinkers, indeed homosexual is unpleasant & awful behaviour even animals are not doing

Listen, I have stated the constitution is clear on the separation of church and state and that you will not be allowed to impose your, code of ethics, morals, or beliefs on anyone. The same constitution has an extensive bill of rights second only to the South African constitution's and that obsession with what consenting adults choose to do with their genital is infringing on rights.

I repeat, this is an issue for the Kenyan courts and the constitution and not for you or your source of morality. If you allow your memory to include all that I wrote less than an hr ago, you will understand my assertion.

Your, homophobic rants are expected, Your argument is based on hate and I will remind you....

Respect everyones right to be and dont impose your morality or culture on anyone. If you are against homosexuality, you are free to say so but dont expect everyone to live by your or your grandfathers code of faith, morality or ethics! The Swahili had arguably the best expression for bigots and busy body cultural warriors; Pili pili usioila yakuwashia nini mkunduni mwako?

Stay positive.

Hey, I already told you it is okay to come out! It is obvious you are a self loathing homosexual and that is the only reason for your obsession with what consenting adults do with their genitals.

This argument is above your pay grade so I would advise you to focus on pictorial threads. All the same, come out brother....In me you have someone who believes and will always defend your right to be.
