Kenya is over represented

It is a fact Kenya is over represented. We do not need 47 Governors. 16 can do. Look at the way counties are doing the right thing by forming economic blocs. We started with Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani. Then we had the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB). Governors now need to agree that these blocs should be the basis of the revised counties.

We do not need 348 MPs. 200 are enough. India has 548 Members of the Lok Sabha with a population of 1 billion people. The State of California has 15 Million people. It has 1 governor and 2 senators. Its economy is 14 times the combined GDP of all African countries. We have 900 nominated MCAs in Kenya. The total cost of maintenance for each MCA is close to 1 Million shillings. This translates to Ksh 10.8 billion shillings to mantain nominated MCAs per year.

In January 2013 the minimum salary for a councillor was Ksh 30k (Mandera county) while the highest paid was Ksh 80k (Nairobi County). Today after factoring allowances an MCA takes home close to Ksh 500k. We really do not need senators and women reps. That would save close to Ksh 35 billion per year.

Reducing MPs to 200 saves the exchequer close to Ksh 50 billion per year if not more. Kenya earns around Ksh 50 billion from tourism. Thats how significant that saving would be.

Kenyans you messed up with so called "New Constitution" dispensation coz that "document" divide you further into 47 distinctive tribal/race/ethnic line Counties. One may wonder seeing one of the EAC founding member state instead of pushing for more united Kenya conversely, your are advocating for "smaller" division of dry piece of land i.e WAJIR, GARISSA, MANDERA, UASIN NGISHU, sijui TURKANA!!!
