A 62-year-old woman was on Tuesday sentenced to 35 years in prison after she was found guilty for a robbery with violence charge.
Joyce Wairimu Kariuki, an ex-convict of Shimo La Tewa GK Prison, was accused of involvement in robbery of motor vehicles between 2018 and 2019 in Nakuru, Nairobi and Mombasa.
The accused was convicted at the Loitoktok Law Courts.
According to records from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Wairimu was previously released from Shimo La Tewa prison after completing a 15-year jail term.
“Following numerous reports of stolen motor vehicles especially lorries in Nakuru, Nairobi and Mombasa between 2018 and 2019, @DCI_Kenya narrowed down on the suspect around whom the thefts revolved despite having been released from the said prison after completing a 15-year jail term,” said the DCI on Tuesday.
