  • Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on G+ Marsabit were on Sunday 22, October apprehended and taken to Ethiopia's Babua police station.

Confirming the incident, Marsabit Police Commander Ben Kogo noted that the officers had crossed the border to secure the release of a member of the military reserve forces – Salim Kala – who had been arrested on October 21 for allegedly fishing along the shores of Lake Turkana on the Ethiopian side.

"They had gone to Ethiopia to secure the release of a reservist when they were arrested. We are yet to establish why they were arrested but we're trying to negotiate with Ethiopian authorities for them to be released," Mr Kogo was quoted by the Nation.

OCS Nalianya together with his officers were fully armed when they drove off to the neighbouring country.

Their firearms were, however, confiscated and the Toyota Land Cruiser (GK B414E) impounded.

Efforts by Kenyans.co.ke to reach the Ministry of Defence for more information were futile.

The arrest of the officers is likely to cause a serious diplomatic row between Kenya and Ethiopia.

They were rightfully detained and should learn that it is the way to police the border, why do they allow the Ethiopians to get away with it?

I strongly differ with your sentiments.

What would you have the government do...invade Ethiopia? Or Uganda in the case of Migingo Island??

In such cases The government looks at the broader picture. You see, Kenya benefits more from her neighbours than they do from us. For instance, Uganda is Kenya's biggest market/trading partner. So having That in mind, we simply can't severe ties because of a piece of rock.

And quite similarly, Kenya is courting Ethiopia for some major infrastructure investment deals.

Just like Bruce Lee's art of deception. Let someone think they are getting their way, but in reality, you are winnning the bigger battle.

Nafananisha na kitendo cha mawaziri wenu kuingia Tanga port na kutaka kufanya ukaguzi bila ya kuomba ruhusa! Basi nauita huo ni uerevu! Mie nawapenda nyote! [HASHTAG]#sitaki[/HASHTAG] ufala#

Jirani zetu mlolongo wa matendo yao yanatia shaka, ''ubabe mwingi ktk keyboard /twitter'' lakini kuna mengi kuonesha unyonge wao tukiongezea na kisiwa kile cha Migingo ziwa Victoria, kimetwaliwa na mpaka leo wako kimya wakidai ni kisiwa chenye ''miamba mitupu'' kama the Rock of Gibraltar.

There are many times we had the opportunity to get back at Ethiopia by taking advantage of the situation... but we have never acted upon.... everyman has a breaking point... one day kenya is gonna snap.... well I hope that never hapens, but we have to take care of business, we should set up a parmanet military base close to ethiopias border........

we could have taken advtg of these situations but we never do

REPORTS coming out of the troubled Ethiopian Air Force indicates that another four high ranking Air Force pilots have abandoned the government and requested asylum in Kenya.
The Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) today
reports that the four military pilots defected from Dire Dawa Air Force base

Four Ethiopian Air Force Pilots Defect to Kenya

The search by the security organs to hunt them down so far was not successful. The sources believe the fugitives are already out of the country and more likely joined the opposition forces.
The Ethiopian Air Force in recent times had suffered with a series of high profile defections of its qualified manpower as well as inventory of its military aircraft.
At the beginning of this year, four Air force pilots, namely, MIG-23 fighter jet pilot Captain Gezakegn Derese; MI-35 Helicopter pilot Captain Daniel Girma; MI-35 Helicopter pilot Lieutenant Masresha Sette, and MI-35 Helicopter pilot Bruk Atnae, have defected to Kenya.

Countries like ethiopia rule by force, fear and action..... ......

They force there enemies and opposition forces into submission, they create enough fear in the public so that when they take action and salvage the day they are seen by their suppoters as the savior, the liberators and without them or their protection then ethiopia will fall........ Kenya needs to understand this.... this is the reason we still dont understand their action.... yes indeed kenya police crossed to ethiopia, but they actually dint harm anyone, they were just travelling to pick up their collegue, it would have been cutercy for the ethiopian authorities to just escort them, but they chose to arrest them... from our point of view, it looks uncalled for, it looks unnesesary.... but from there point, they did that purposely to show there supporters supremacy.. To them this is a suprimacy battle, we alsi need to take our time and respond in kind... but sadly our police hardly take any action just so they can gain praise from their citizens, they really dont give an ass about optics or PR

This is one sorry excuse...if that's how the top government officials think, then Kenya is doomed.Kenya should have kicked out Uganda out of migingo within 48hr..by closing the border..since most of her goods pass thru Kenya FOR NOW...wait till they move to DAR PORT ,theen M7 will claim the old boundaries all the way to Nakuru. What will u do then? The Ethiopian arm has crossed over to Kenya umpteen times and killed our policemen and civilian and WE DO NOTHING and yet there is NO TRADE BETWEEN Kenya &Ethiopia at the moment, then why do we let them off the hook??

Wakenya mnaonewa Sana na mna jeshi Kali tu, sijui Kwa nini, Nakumbuka ile ishu ya migingo island jinsi Museveni alivyowanyanyasa na bado mkawa kimya tu, alshababu ndo usiseme.
Hii kitu imekaaje I?

Nilidhani Kenya na Ethiopia mambo yalikuwa powa, sasa mtafanyaje project ya Lapsset kama mtatishana hivi?
