Maafisa nchini Kenya wamesema maafisa watano wa polisi wameuawa leo kufuatia shambulizi ambalo limefanywa na washukiwa wa kundi la itikadi kali la Kiislamu karibu na mpaka wa nchi hiyo na Somalia. Maafisa hao waliuawa wakati washukiwa hao wa kundi la Al Shabaab walipovivamia vituo vya polisi karibu na mji wa Lafey jimbo la Mandera, Kaskazini Mashariki mwa Kenya.

Four police officers and a reservist have been killed after al-Shabab attack in Fino area, Mandera. The militants also hurled a hand grenade to Safaricom mast to cripple communication in the area.
The more than 50 heavily armed militants attacked the camps at the border town of Fino, Lafey sub-county before retreating back to Somalia just five km away.
The confrontation lasted for close to three hours. Several other officers were injured during the 2 am attack.
"The injured officers whose number was not immediately established were rushed at Fino dispensary for treatment before being airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment," North Eastern regional commissioner Mohamud Saleh said.
Saleh said the terrorists were revenging Tuesday's killing of 40 militants by KDF in Fafadul area, Gedo region in Somalia.
Among the killed were two senior commanders. “We suspect that this rag tag militants were on a revenge mission following the heavy casualties they suffered in the hands of our troops,”Saleh said.
“We have accounted for all our officers at the two camps of AP and regular police. We are in pursuit of the militants some of whom sustained injuries following the heavy exchange of gun fire,” Saleh said.
This is the third time the al Shabaab have attacked security installation in Lafey Sub County. Two weeks ago, three teachers were killed at Qarsa primary school in similar attacks.
