Mchina at work,Bravooo

hamna tazarA ni 1067mm or there abt hakuna SGR HAPO

[h=2]Rail gauge and standards[edit][/h]The TAZARA has a track gauge of 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm), also known as the Cape Gauge, which is used throughout southern Africa.[SUP][14][/SUP]The railways of Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi, Namibia and the Congo primarily use the Cape Gauge. There is no break of gauge at Kapiri Mposhi. The remainder of Tanzania's railways have 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 [SUP]3[/SUP]⁄[SUB]8[/SUB] in) metre gauge tracks.[SUP][15][/SUP] A transshipment station with a break of gauge station was built in Kidatu in 1998.[SUP][15][/SUP]
Except for the rail gauge, TAZARA generally reflects Chinese railway standards of the 1970s. TAZARA has a design capacity of 5 million tons per year.[SUP][16][/SUP]

Never underestimate the ignorance of Tanzanian contributors of JF, i thought it was common knowledge that there is no SGR in East Africa.

mmh!!!
ndio zetu, ndio zetu
Napenda WAKENYA WANAVYOFANYA MAMBO YAO

Tanzania has a cape gauge,Kenya's a standard gauge railway

That was OK in the 70s and it is still OK now, they are just gauges. The railway gauge standards were mostly commercial and not technical. Remember, to curb competition.

Tanzania today has two different railway lines with two different gauges and now we are adding the third (the standard gauge)!

Its obvious today's choice, especially to us who are still highly dependent kwa "mabwana zetu", would be "standard (Stephenson) gauge" as 60% of the world uses the same (Stephenson) gauge and interchange of carriages and parts thereof would be a bit be easier, so it seems. Besides, wherever in the world were they use high speed trains today, they have adopted this so called standard gauge. So why not?

Tanzania also is never to be left behind, we wanted to change our existing Railways to standard gauge but we decided we shall come with a completely new line as the costs will not differ much considering changing the line and all its carriages.

We are now entering into a new phase with a complete brand new line and also rehabilitating the old line while phasing out the old carriages as time allows along the way.

Nimeona quote moja hapo kwa hizo pilars za bridge "Casual worker today, skilled labour tomorrow"....I like that.
I also like the fact that (excluding the journalists) In the pictures, you don't see that many Chinies,(Managers or workers) Kitambo ilikua project kama hizi, unaona managers wote ni wachina. Hao watu wahakikishe wameshika kila siri ya kujenga reli, so that next time tusiwe tunahitaji mtu yeyote kutoka nje

Anyway in other things, Ruto hapo juu bado anakaa kama hustler (If I came across him in the streets I wouldnt notice him), Uhuru, hicho kitambi kinakula nyama choma mob sana.(I heard he never eats his dinner withought nyama choma na ka mboga)

And never underestimate the "know everything" Kenyan altitude. One ignorant Tanzanian is the ignorance of all JF Tanzanians contributors.
