So uganda starts building an expensive structure (dry port) at Naivasha while the SGR will reach kampala in just 10 years? Why not build the dry port at malaba(construction takes atleast 4 years) and wait for the rail to come?
Museveni is not stupid, he knows the reason he is getting free land in naivasha is because kenya is experiencing problems taking the rail to malaba/ kisumu

Why should you built dry port when there is no rail there? Kwani train ikifika Naivasha itaruka kama ndege hadi Malaba ama Kisumu? I always wonder if you normally re-read whatever you're writing.

We are already building a dry port in Naivasha. Uganda is not getting land out of the blue, but likely space to build their handling facilities inside the Naivasha port.
The rail will reach Kampala in less than 10 years. Could be 5. And such infrastructure is built concurrently, not one after the other.
Also, been allocated land right now does not mean construction will start right now.

Which task force are you talking about?
And if there was any such report, I'm sure you only picked parts selectively.
The rail is not even halfway done. Right now it is being used primarily for imports, yet it was built for exports.
The industrial and economic zones in Naivasha are not built.
Once all the cogs are in place, when trains start operating at full capacity uphill and downhill, then come back here and compare apples to apples.

When China approves funding SGR sec 2B, the rest is hot air..As far as we know, China refused and ordered a feasibility study which has never been made public

Why is kenya buiding a port at lamu yet there is no complete highway(U/C) or rail?
Why is there an oil jetty at lamu when there is no pipeline?
If there was a concrete plan for SGR to reach malaba, museveni would also be building a dry port.

You are talking of simple logistics that can be fixed over a cup of tea.
"Additional costs are also met on the price of empty return by rail, shipping line margins and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) shunting of empties to container depots."
When the rail, dry port, and industrial zone are complete, it will operate at full capacity to and from Mombasa. No ferrying of empties.
What do you think will happen to the cost then?
Also, the Naivasha port is meant to take a lot of the work from Nairobi ICD. No more long storage.
As I said, wait for all the cogs to fall into place then compare apples to apples.
