World Bank warns Kenya over $85.7b debt ceilingWe will borrow more as the economy grows. American government has debt equal to 100% of their GDP, China has debt to it's own state banks equal to 200% of their GDP.
Debt is not a problem, ability to pay is what matters. Kenya has never defaulted on it's debt, what IMF is worried about is that Kenya does not collect enough tax. GOK only collects less than 25% of GDP which put's stress on the budget.

The difference between Africans and the Russians and Chinese is that they decided to make the difficult decisions/Plans and had the balls to carry them out because their geographic population size demanded they do so.
Africans on the other hand is a different story, EAC can't agree on anything. SADC is a one country show, ECOWAS is stuck in the 80's and 90's. North Africans don't even consider themselves to be Africans. Congo Nigeria Ethiopia Tanzania should be our natural leaders but they're a classic basket case.
Look at the oil business. Uganda should be in charge of refining crude oil from Kenya Uganda and south Sudan and supplying it across EAC members. Tanzania should be exporting all the crude oil from KE UG & S.S. Kenya should be handling the Petro chemical business
But what do we end up with? Total telling us what we should do. Kenya all salty because they lost the contract. Tanzania feeling proud because they finally got one over Kenya......petty little shit while we miss the big picture
Also in Electricity, Ethiopia Tanzania Uganda and Congo DRC can make sure that East Central and much of Southern Africa will never be short of hydropower instead we have incompetency and useless nationalism. Imagine Ethiopia marketed GERD as a regional project and let the region buy and hold bonds for the project??? Egyptian opposition would be trite.
Uganda is the natural logistics hub of the region by the virtue of it's location but Kenya and Tanzania cannot let that happen. The lack of thinking big is the poor man's (African) problem
Imagine Rotterdam is the busiest port in all of Europe and no one in Europe complains.
