MOMBASA, KENYA: A Kenyan ship builder on Thursday unveiled a locally built sea vessel for the transportation of heavy machinery and marine projects cargo along the East African coast.
Southern Engineering Company (SECO) said the vessel known as a barge has the capacity of 2500 dead weight tonnage equivalent to 150 truckloads.

Manufacturing and ship building for this instance starts like this, from humble beginnings. DAEWOO & Maersk all began with badges before becoming global giants. Hope this is the first of a whole lot more

Kenyans have assembled ferries for long now so we know what a ferry is...and this has been built not assembled kuna difference hapo

definately not the first ship bulit, seco or alpha group , based in Mombasa ,has been building marine vessels for a long time


here their assets support a gas drilling rig in songo songo Tanzania

Uganda High Commissioner to Kenya Ms Angeline Wapakhalo said her country would continue sourcing for the vessels from Kenya.
“Kenyans doubt their products but we don’t. We will come back for another ferry but I also urge you to buy our sugar,” she said in reference to President Kenyatta’s controversial sugar import deal with Uganda.
