Court orders Babu Owino be treated in prison, not private hospital

A Nairobi court on Thursday declined to order Embakasi East MP Babu Owino be taken to a private hospital for treatment.
Instead, Trial Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot said the MP should be treated at the Industrial Area Remand Prison facility where he is detained after he was charged with attempted murder.
The magistrate ruled that the prison has a sufficient medical treatment facility where he can be attend to.
The controversial MP was expected to appear in court on Thursday (today) for the hearing of his case where he is charged with incitement to violence. In the case he is accused of subversion and uttering abusive words against President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
His lawyer’s told the court that prison authorities failed to produce him in court since he was unwell.
According to his lawyers, Owino is suffering from chest pains.

The magistrate, however, adjourned the hearing of the case to February 7 to confirm the hearing dates.
Babu Owino was remanded at Industrial Area Prison for 7 days pending a ruling on his bail application on January 27 in the case where is charged with shooting and injuring Felix Orinda popularly known as DJ Evolve at B-Club in Nairobi on Friday.

Babu Owino is not in prison for abusing the president as your title says.
He is in prison for attempted murder. He shot someone in cold blood in a night club.

Hio ndio maana unafaa ubaki na habari za Tanzania zenye unaelewa.

Unayozungumzia ni mambo mengine.
Anyone can sue anyone (not just president) for insults, threats, defamation etc. in a civil court.
