Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday announced that Kenya has over 500 COVID-19 cases.
During his briefing the CS said there were 45 new cases bringing the total to 535 and the highest number of new cases recorded in the country.
CS Kagwe also pointed out that out of the 45 cases, 29 were from Nairobi and all of them located in Eastleigh area. 11 people were from Mombasa and 5 from Wajir.
The CS noted that Kawagware is also an area of concern as it currently has 24 cases. 39 cases have been recorded in Mombasa town alone.
While warning Kenyans, the CS said that things are only getting worse judging by the numbers and even used a bible quote from Proverbs 10.17 to emphasize on his message.
"He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, but he who ignores reproof goes astray.
"Today's figures show things are far from normal, things are challenging, those exhibiting the indiscipline and leading others astray are becoming a common phenomenon,” said Kagwe.
On a positive note, the CS said there nine patients who recovered and got discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 182.
We are not out of the woods - CAS Mwangangi
Mwangangi went on to stress the fact that all Kenyans need to maintain the set containment measures.
"Perhaps one thing that needs to be emphasized today and you will bear me witness, for example, Cathedral Road this evening has a buildup of traffic, and that tells us that Nairobi is going back to normal status. Yet, if you have listened, over the past three days we've been announcing figures in terms of double digits," she said.
