In May 2020, the genius magafuli dismissed the head of Tanzania’s national laboratory. who was in charge of COVID-19 testing. He then declared tanzania was covid 19 free.
How did he test the whole population of TZ (56m +)for covid 19 and found out it was free of covid 19.
Magafuli accomplished something no other country has managed to. He tested 56 million people in one day for covid 19.
Its one thing to state you have low infection rate versus stating you free of an infectious virus.

Kenya had to consider a lot of things
1. KQ has a substantial share of passengers in TZ and ET and KLM were eating into this share by increase number of flights and frequency. Losing TZ market will greatly affect KQ and tourism as most tourists visit both countries.
2. The crisis was affecting the EAC partnership.
3. There are thousands of Kenya businesses operating in Tanzania and over 200,000 Kenyans working in Tz who were also affected
4. Kenya has a good population in Tz and maybe the reports from this group was that although everything in TZ operates in pre-Covid 19, after May/June there are very few suspected deaths or sicknesses reported or witnessed. The hundreds of thousands of Kenyan workers in TZ operates in the same environment and if covid was a serious problem in Tz they would be affected and reported back home the true situation.

Tz is a unique situation on Covid 19 and WHO and other countries should study why they have established covid curve without undertaking any steps apart from prayers
