I said this before, Kenya has been left in hands of top 1% for far too long, these people have lost touch with the wider population. You might come with fancy HDI numbers, some eye watering GDP numbers, but those numbers means nothing to Wainaina, Kiplagat or Odongo if they can't access cheap unga or reasonable health insurance. Kenya is doing the same mistake Nigeria have been doing for years, they export oil, import refined oil products. Kenya export tea, imports maize. Why this is happening in Kenya? Is because Mr. Richman (top 1%) is sitting on huge chunk of fertile land and he's the one decides what will be produce on that land and where it will be sold. The white settlers scattered around countryside are producing crops to feed their sibling in Europe. And you expect miracle will happen to people in Wajir they will have enough food to feed themselves.

Please, stop talking as if Tanzania is so much better than Kenya. I already posted links of 78% of Tanzanians not having enough to eat and 35% of Tanzanian kids being malnourished which is a bigger shame since Tanzania has 10 times more arable land than Kenya with just 5 million more people.

Back to the topic. I simply used the Qatar example because in your first post you seemed to insinuate that importing food is same to being failed. That's it.

I ask you to visit Kenya because you know nothing about Kenya. See - flowers are grown in Kenya in greenhouses in Naivasha. If you had visited Kenya like you claim, you'd definitely know Naivasha is arid and you can't grow maize in Naivasha. To make it simpler to you, if Naivasha was in Tanzania, you'd be growing nothing there - completely nothing. The production of flowers in Kenya is just one of the reasons why Kenya is more developed than all the other countries in the region despite having the least resources - something to admire, not detest like you're doing. Please do visit Kenya and understand.

Why are you so concerned by Kenya's internal problems though yet your country is worse of? I mean, your country is second after DRC in terms of resources in Africa yet 70% of Dar is a slum, 78% of your peeps suffer food shortages, 35% of your kids are malnourished and your ports are as efficient as a donkey trying to climb a tree. Perhaps if people like you put the energy they put in worrying about Kenya's problems to their country, you'd be where South Africa is now.

Please stop beating around the bush and bring us the world bank report that states Kenya has 48% unemployment and Tz has 26% unemployment. Which school did you go to?

Mwanzi1 the funny thing is those cash crops firms are mostly foreign owned a reason GDP ranks Kenya a middle income but with poverty ratio higher than Tanzania's. The truth is all the revenue accrued r being ferried abroad leaving majority with no possibility even to afford food while at the same time squatters in those foreign owned plantations. Kenya is gone to dogs that's the brutal truth.

Steer clear of matters that you don't know about! Kenyans own majority of cash crops investments in Kenya. If a few foreigners dominate the same in Tz same does not replicate in Kenya. If Kenya is gone to the dogs then Tz is a basket case rabid mongrel that no one will keep as a pet!

Kenyans own Small farms Maximum 5 acre coffee or tea, but there is nothing much to gain for these farmers as the Most lucrative market (EU) has slapped 100% more taxes due to our bigot status of Middle Income. As for flower farms, Most are owned by ex colonial era white farmers or asians who bank their money at HSBC or bank of boroda- india. It not well with them either, shah Karuturi the biggest flower farm in Naivasha closed down some 3 years ago due to high EU taxes. Oserian flower farm is almost bankrupt, may close this year
