America also runs on diesel trains but do more cargo and business than Canada which has electric trains. Find below their siemens charger locomotive that they bought recently for passenger services.

I am happy to see you still have hope even after the start of operations has been postponed three times for the first 200 km only. It was to start in October 2019 got pushed to November 2019, then march 2020 now we are in may 2020 and the first 200 km is still not operational.
Yours, is neither welded nor electrified and still took four years to complete (2013 -2017). Ours started in 2018, we still have two more years to f*ck around.

They use diesel engines because of the oil industry lobbying against electric trains.

Tanzania railway will go to Uganda and DRC also and will be fastest and effective.

i) Fast probably if it gets finished. If only the first 200 km has been delayed three times what do you think of 1400 km?Ask yourself. Kenya finished all her current sections 600 km ahead of time and on budget.

ii) efficient! No, your line is not designed to be efficient. You will only be able to carry 17 million tonnes of cargo a year on single stack trains. Overhead electric wires of 5500 mm which is what you will have are too low for double stack trains which means you will run single stack trains even if you buy double stack wagons ie Kenya will still carry twice as much as your cargo trains and the difference in time will not be big (Assuming your workers will be as productive and efficient as the Kenyan workers).

Amtrak is not a cargo train.

Oh!! they also run cargo trains you did not know?

4 years for 200 km? We took 4 years for 485 km of Chinese class one track which is superior to your arema standard.

Amtrak is not a cargo train, I live here I know what I'm talking about. Cargo trains are like BNSF and CSX.

No, in four years it'd be about 490km, all the way to Makutupora Singida, all electric.

i) Those are cargo operators boss! Amtrak is to them what KRC is to the Africastar railway corporation which operates both cargo and passenger services. Just because you live there it does not mean you know.
ii)October 2013 is when our construction started and it was finished in late 2017 for the first 485 km, that is less actually than 4 years.
iii) Your phase one (200 km) has been delayed three times and so far it has remained at 70% since november when it was to start operating, how long will it take you to finish the phase one?

They're not just freight operators, they also own the tracks. Amtrak only runs passengers train.

I'm pretty sure it will be done before the election day.🙂

How??? In march 2019 it was reported that phase one is 60% complete and expected to start passenger operations in november 2019 and cargo in december 2019. In February it was reported by your prime minister that the phase one is at 70% completion and operations were expected to start in March or April 2020. 05th May 2020, GOT is silent on start of operations or completion of phase one.
At this rate how do you possibly hope to finish this? Given it has already run out of time which also means it has overrun it's initial budget for phase one, which GOT will not tell you.
It is either GOT is being lied to by the contractors or GOT is lying to her citizenry.

To be realistic, most countries in Africa, Tanzania included are heavily indebted to China, they've all fallen to the China's debt trap.

It's a sheer foolishness to revel at the one's voyage mishap when you both sail in the same vessel.

Truly speaking, it was a grave mistake for Kenya to construct a parallel railway track running from Mombasa to Nairobi when they've failed to utilize the existing meter gauge built by the colonialists.

Tanzania too, like Kenya, have fallen into the same death pit as Tanzania by trying to construct similar railway track running from Dar es Salaam to the mainland using a borrowed fund that carries a huge interest when it's obvious that the project lacks any economic sense.

So it's not a long time Tanzania too will start feeling the pinch of repaying a loan they've used to finance a white elephant project.
Guys (hope you are) cool down. Kenyans and Tanzanians are all brother and sisters. we depends on each other for many things. We should avoid as much as we can to spend time in creating unnecessary tension. Arusha and Kilimanjaro people knows it very well that we take alot of staff from Kenya to make make our business up and running .In the same way Kenyans takes a lot of staff from Tanzania. Kutaka kuonyeshana nani ni zaidi kuliko mwingine ni ushamba na ujinga na sio muda wake. We should try to find out those things that unites us than the ones that tears our relation apart. Lets be serious !!!!

Phase I is going slowly, but it's going.

Rain was the biggest issue but most of the bridges around Ruvu area that were delayed are mostly done. We expect things to go smoothy in the coming weeks. Phase II is going faster compared to phase I, and this is because that part of the country is drier and flatter than a pancake.

Does that mean since march 2019 to today rain has been falling in that area constantly, because a progress of only 10% over a whole year is really nothing to write home about.

We have two rainy seasons in Tanzania (Mar - May and Sept - Dec). Last year, we'd too much rain, even the old MGR was destroyed in Kilosa. Yapi Merkez had to take a much slower pace to make sure the work is done properly.

Your rejoinder is irrelevant to my post. It caught you completely out of step.
