Your very right, i'm sure there people who were rubbing their hands together with anticipation of big payout.Land compensation is a big thing in kenya.
Kenya ranked as 'failed state'

Kenya ranked as 'failed state'Bambardier yani mtungi wa viroba unabeba route gani? Bagamoyo bado kuzinduliwa? SGR Dar mpaka Moro bado kwenye kuzungusha kibakuli kupata mkopo? Viwanda vya kukamulia juisi vipi? Pale Gold Coast kwani hata mashabiki hamna?

I don't support the fact that we have to do everything by loan but africa we have to change our mentality and dare to dream. Developed countries didn't get where they are by default.I was wondering the same, with 2.9 million cars registered in Kenyan roads, this project will not add any economical benefit considering majority of vehicle using that road are trucks and buses which are not that many. Maybe the project was more about national pride that economical impact.

Look at china and Dubai for example, they dared to dream beyond the most developed nations and today they have better facilities than even the advanced nations. China to an extent build a ghost city.
Open your eyes and know Kenya may have 2.9m cars but tomorrow it will be over 20m. We have to focus on the future and not only today.
Very true, we have to change our mentality.Very correct!
"Build and they will come." That's the mantra of daring nations like China that so long as there are incentives to draw in investments, money will follow where enablers of production leads.
I do agree that Africa we need to dream big, but our dreams need to go hand in hand our productivity. We don't create anything with value additional worth selling to the world, we only produce raw material e.g. mineral, timber, coffee, tea etc. We're not even in the position to dictate the price of our raw materials. On the others hand, who produce cars and TVs are able to dictate the prices of their products.I don't support the fact that we have to do everything by loan but africa we have to change our mentality and dare to dream. My question was if there was any economically significant having an eight lane free way between Nairobi to Mombasa? Most of developed countries like Germany or USA or UK you will find harder to see a wider road (eight or more lanes) which connect two provinces or counties. Most of their freeway are six lane or less dual carriage with sections which have extra lanes as part of ring roads to ease the traffic. Countries like UK or France with 25 million active cars on their roads, they still run their economies smoothly with six lanes highways or others call them motorways.
So in your opinion SA is perfect model for all African to follow? Why your selling yourself short? You're really good at criticizing Kenya while your own country is being run like a dog kennel. If you guys gave a quarter of focus you give Kenya to your own country, Tanzania would be where SA is.
Those countries developed long ago when our forefathers were still living in the jungle. We can not take everything after them. Look at China, Singapore,UAE, Qatar... they are doing mega infrastructure than what the west have.. we are in a different time.. The west can give a model for the best institutions because they have become better and stronger over time.I do agree that Africa we need to dream big, but our dreams need to go hand in hand our productivity.
