Study more, yes it was discovered in Kenya but see who discovered it and who funded it, it was a multinational effort to drive financial accessibility in Africa, not a Kenyan effort

See your problem: Safaricom does not report profits from MPESA installed in other countries, only in kenya.
Whichever Journalist wrote that story is suffering from the same confusion as you

Yeah.
Because until now, Safaricom has not been managing Mpesa in other countries.
Also, Vodafone has had operations on all those countries.
Ethiopia is changing that.

And that's what gonna happen as Ethiopian telecoms will operate the service n believe me Vodafone will have no objection looking at the market size.

Believe me what counts for Vodafone right now is to get there fast before Tigopesa or Airtel money or MTN mobile money enter the market before them. And we already saw how EA Brew got manoeuvred by parent company Diageo Plc during Ethiopia acquisition.

It's only Kenyan media is left with this mentality that Kenyan companies are doing big acquisitions across Africa as it can't come into terms with the truth on the ground as it pains to know u r not what u claim to be.

Yum! Brands owns KFC.
Kuku Food Kenya owns and operates all KFCs in East Africa.
Kuku Foods has not acquired YUM. They have franchised from them.

Just like Kuku Foods, Safaricom can get multiple country licence to operate Mpesa.

Let me put it to you in plain English.
Vodafone UK still calls the shots. They restructured the ownership for the books; accounting and reporting.
They control Mpesa and have never given it away.

Vodacom SA is simply the company Vodafone appointed to conduct its dealings in Africa. Minus the South African ownership in Vodacom, it is one and the same company as Vodafone.

Same way they have given the greenlight for Safaricom to launch Mpesa in Ethiopia.
