In the next 2-3 years Kisumu will have the best well equipped and modern Medical Centre in the Country after Governor Anyang Nyong’o signed a MoU with Victoria Hospital in an ambitious plan to construct a Medical Tourism Centre with a 3 Star Hotel and a level 7 Specialist Hospital among others.

The Governor of the great county of Kisumu Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o on behalf of the County Government of Kisumu today signed an MOU with Victoria Development Company for the construction of level 7 Victoria Hospital and Cancer Centre.


This collaborative initiative that will be built on Public Private Partnership arrangement and whose discussions have been ongoing for a while now is expected to commence in about 3 months and completed within 2 years.

The 250 bed hospital will comprise of General Medicine, Renal Unit and a Cardio centre; a funeral parlour (not mortuary), a doctors’ plaza, a nursing school and a five star hotel.


VIDCO, composed of various professionals from the Lake Region by their chair Dr. Joseph Aluoch, the Vice chair and project coordinator Prof. Vincent Orinda, the Legal Advisor Mr. Ambrose Rachier and the project designer Eng. Jerry Ndong.

The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Dr. Onudi Olang’o, Dr. Rosemary Obara the health CEC, the Chief of Staff Mr Patrick Ouya, the Finance CEC Mr Nerry Achar amongst other officers
