Do not waste your breath on that sorry excuse of a human being. You are right in fact
a) Kisumu is recognized as a UN millenium city ~UN Habitat
b) Kisumu serves as the communication and trading confluence for the Great Lakes region - Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi~ UN Habitat
c) The largest mall in Mwanza(Rock city mall) which is also the largest in that country, is not even the size of westgate mall in westlands, where as the Lake basin Mall in Kisumu is almost 60% larger.
d) Kisumu has more malls and more hotels than Mwanza.
e) Kisumu real estate market is larger than their second largest City(if we can call them that) with average prices of land per acre going for around kes 8 million in kisumu while in mwanza the avg land price is about kes 2 million per acre.
f) Kisumu has more institutions of higher learning than Mwanza
g)The stadium in mwanza is better but does not reflect in their performance in sports(The irony).
h) The airport in Mwanza looks more like a dilapidated farmhouse than an airport. The arrival lounge is a shack with iron sheet walls and roof while the whole airport feels and smells more like a barn. (I have been there).
i) Also note that avg square metre prices of apartments in the most important cities in Kenya and Tanzania differ by a factor of three. Kenya $2187 while Tanzania $700. Kenya is only beaten by south africa at $4214.
In summary do not waste your time and money, comparing anything in Kenya with Tanzania is akin to comparing a rolls royce to a bullock cart.
