Kuna wazazi waliofiwa na watoto wao muda mfupi baada ya kuzaliwa. Inasemekana (sijui kama ni kitaalamu) kuwa mtoto huyo huwa amekunywa maji yaliyokuwa ndani ya nyumba ya uzazi (placenta).

Kuna sababu tofauti zinazoweza kupeleka mtoto kufariki wakati wa kuzaliwa kwa lugha ya kitaaluma inaitwa INTRAPARTUM STILLBIRTH.Vitu ambavyo vinaweza kusababisha hali hio na viko nje ya uwezo wetu ni:

1. CONGINETAL HEART DEFECTS :This happens before child birth.The most common congenital heart defect occurs when the muscular wall (septum) separating the bottom chambers of the heart (right and left ventricles) doesn't fully form. The hole allows oxygen-rich blood to leak from the left ventricle into the right ventricle, instead of moving into the aorta and on to the body. In the right ventricle, the oxygen-rich blood mixes with blood that doesn't have enough oxygen in it.

• Before birth, a blood vessel called the ductus arteriosus connects the pulmonary artery (the artery carrying blood to your lungs ) and the aorta, the large artery that carries blood away from the heart. Before a baby is born, the ductus arteriosus allows blood to bypass the lungs because the baby receives oxygen through the placenta and umbilical cord. The ductus arteriosus normally closes within soon after birth. If the ductus arteriosus remains open (patent), some blood that should flow through the body goes to the lungs.
• Complications of tetralogy of Fallot include cyanosis - sometimes called "blue baby syndrome," since the lips, fingers and toes may have a bluish tinge from lack of oxygen

1. PLACENTA ABRUPTION:This occurs when the placental linning has separated the uterus of the other prior to delivery.The severity of it can cause extreme bleeding and mortality to the fetus and the mother.
2. CORD COMPLICATIONS:Vasa previa which causes the blood arteries to tore apart during birth or could be caused the the fetus head pressing against the blood arteries and stopping blood circulation and hence lack of oxygen to the fetus.Cord knotes(kifundo kumzunguka mtoto kwenye viungo tofauti,inaweza kuwa shingoni n.k)
3. CONGENTIAL ANOMALY-Defets or deformation of the fetus before birth or after birth.This can be genetic abnormality,chromosomal abnormality or the intrauterine enviroment.Deformations on other organs including the lungs,kidney etc
4. Vitu ambayo tunaweza kuviepuka na kuviboresha ili kupata mtoto mwenye afya njema ni

• Uvutaji wa sigara
• Unywaji wa pombe
• Umri wa kujifungua (Umri unaofaa kiafya ni kati ya miaka 20-35)
• Lishe bora na Utumiaji wa folic acid(ili kueupka neural tube/spinal cord deformities)
• Kuepuka kutumia madawa bila kuwaisilana na daktari au wataalamu wa madawa.Dawa kama Isotretionin inasababisha kifo kwa watoto.
• Kwenda clinic kwenye check ups ili kuhakikisha kila kitu kipo sawa!
