New 750 bed, 80 000 m2 tertiary hospital for the Kakamega County teaching and referral hospital comprising
of the following departments;
1. Radiotherapy – two linear accelerator, bunkers, brachy therapy and C.T.- scanner.
2. Medical Oncology – 12 treatment beds and dedicated pharmacy.
8. Martenity unit with 4 no. theaters.
9. Delivery unit : 4 delivery rooms.
10. Neonatal Department – 10 beds ICU and 30 beds high care ward.
11. Wards : 4 surgical-, 4 medical-, 3 pediatric-, obstetrics and gynecology wards.
12. Occupational therapy, physiotherapy and audiology. 13. Haemodialysis – 14 bed treatment.
14. Blood bank.
15. Hospital dispensary and bulk store.
16. Administration, including auditorium.
17. Support services including; CSSD,
Bio-engineering, medical equipment processing,
central stores, kitchen, linen/laundry, mortuary, workshops and plant areas.
18. University areas including; lecture rooms, training areas, offices, library and
laboratories.
19. Great care was taken to attain LEED compliance, using double glazing, insulated walls, low

The construction of Mtongwe and Shika Adabu Hospitals is progressing well. They are 2 of the 5 Ultra modern level 4 hospitals under construction by the County Government of Mombasa .The 30 bed capacity hospitals will be fully equipped with Radiology department, Ultra Sound, Theater, Laboratory and a Maternity Wing. The facilities will deliver quality healthcare service closer to the people of Likoni and also decongest Coast General Hospital.
