Sipingi kuwa na supermarkets rather the kind of monopoly or few companies to dominate this sector. Mfano UK is controlled by big 4 Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons.

Disadvantages.

1. Low paid jobs.
2. Lack of Job security.
3. Late payment for suppliers as they know you have nowhere else to go.
4. Restrictions, They might tell you to sell your product exclusive to them at certain price.
5. A lot of money go to one family or few people.
6. They can hike the price when they see fit.
7. Initial they will create jobs but later because of pursuit of profit, innovation, technology, automation have tendency to actually reduce jobs in supermarkets in some advanced countries.
7. They buy products wherever is cheap even if is outside the country.
8. They employs anybody foreigner or local as long as you got skills.
9. Will register their company abroad and small subsidies in the country (e.g Acacia) in order to pay as low tax as possible.

So most of these corner shop, and small traders ll have to close and go to work in supermarkets.

I would prefer for us to upgrades all our markets so they become Super-market and Superstore which means clean, modern, convenience, good transport link, safe, fast, enjoyable experience) Unajua tuna masoko makubwa lakini ni machafu sana kama kariakoo, Ilala Boma, Buguruni.

To do that you need competition and different players in the market place

Taasisi mbali mbali kama Pension funds (NSSF, PSPF v), Cooperative unions, Farmers unions, market traders organisation wanaweza kuanzisha supermarkets to compete with the bigger player.
Hizi taasisi zitakuwa zinaweka maslahi ya wadau wote na wafanyakazi wao wote as their top priority e.g Waitrose or John Lewis.

Let them in, but lets have check and balance, and protection for suppliers and workers.

Benki nazo wakati mwingine foleni kubwa, hakuna mawasiliano utafika counter wakati gani.

Ukifika pale wakati mwingine hawana chengi ndogo.

Hahahaha
Daaah[emoji4][emoji4]

Halafu kununua vitu super market sio ujanja saana!

Hili ndio jibu fasaha.

Kwa hiyo hata sisi we need system which allow competition, efficiency and freedom but also offer protection for certain groups and sector of society. Mixed economy with certain controls.

Unregulated free market and laissez-faire economy to which both government and the whole society are subordinate to market forces of supply and demand will always end in disaster like 2008 credit crunch and financial crisis.

There is really no 100% unfettered free market and laissez-faire economy anywhere in the world as far as i know. USA (Steel), EU ( Common Agriculture Policy, CAP), China (currency manipulation), Russia and India all of them protect certain sectors. It is all about proper checks and right balance for the economy.

You are absolutely right 100% free economy is not healthy for growing economy like ours, government regulation are very vital......but on what? What is our economic strategy is to promote local industiies, encourage foreign investment, tourism or to promote agriculture......my argument is we are not focussed on what to protect. protectionism would interprete our national priorty our country is very funny. Protecting whatever, even things that have no economic impact on the economy......imagine controlling prices on things even you don't produce....have you ever wondered why the transport industry epecially tax is dwindling ?

Kwa hiyo nyingi zitapata tabu and the only way is to sell affordable or discounted products to attract more working class customers.

Naona kuna businesa model hapo mkuu!

Mk

Mkuu nimekuelewa. Heko kwa mchango wako
