Lake Group firm launches lubricants factory
More than 250 Tanzanians are expected to be employed at Lake Lube Company which will be opened tomorrow by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Charles Mwijage in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam.
This was disclosed in an interview with Peter Sifa, head of Sales and Marketing at Lake Group, who was sure that Lake Lube will be a leader in lubricants production and supply in the country.
Current market need of lubricants in the country stands at around 128,000 liters a day while the company’s daily production is 120, 000 liters, in which case the firm expects to export some of its lubricants, he stated.
Exporting the company’s lubricants would lead to earning much needed foreign exchange to the country, he said.
Lake Group is committed to complement President John Magufuli’s vision of seeing the country becoming a medium size economy by 2025, the investor affirmed.
"Our new lubricants company will be opened on Monday by the minister. As a company we are committed to see that Tanzania becomes a middle income country, as this company will create more than 250 jobs for Tanzanians," he said.
On top of creating the direct 250 jobs, the firm shall recruit agents in all parts of the country to sell its products, and providing local motorists with locally made high quality lubricants, he said.
Sifa said he was aware of the many challenges the new company would face, but he was optimistic Lake Lube will live up to expectations.
He is confident of controlling the local lubricants market as the firm has lined up a number of business innovations like offering mechanics training.
"We have plans which we believe will help us conquer the local market. Currently we are experimenting the market by sending our product to all parts of the county, and the response is very good. Our product is of high quality but sold at a modest price.
We have also lined up 31 mechanical training for the whole country where mechanics will learn how to use our products. On top of that at all selling points we will be offering after sales service,” he specified.
Lake Lube is part of Lake Group, a local firm with formidable credentials as it operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Burundi, Sudan, Dubai and soon the firm will launch its business in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.
