Keep wishing JPM is soon to visit Tanga n he will launch an $200mln expansion project for the port there to specifically allow the the port receive bigger oil tankers! I advice u to be wary cause even SGR is convincing Uganda more if u followed the Tanzania-Uganda business summit last weekend!

You already had a functioning port at Tanga that was already capable of docking the necessary oil tankers, this was never a proble for Tz. But still, Total has suspended the project indefinitely after Tullow oil refused to sell half of the oil wells to Total.

On the other hand, one of the major reason Kenya lost the pipeline deal was because at the time, Lamu port was just a project on a piece of paper and no one knew if we would actually build the port which was necessary for the pipeline to be a viable project... And now that your project has been suspended, if they re-look at all the options and routes, Kenya will say, "Despite various challenges, See how we already built the port, we are also in the final stages of the pipeline project to Lamu and we already sent some trucks to Mombasa and started testing the market appetite for our oil, So if you(Investors) want to start making money within the shortest period, build your pipeline through Kenya and you won't have to wait till 2030 like some people!"

Why should they wait for 2030...kwann sisi ndo tunamiliki hiyo tullow oil mpka kuzuia

Total was going to be the financier of the project. he was the one mobilizing funds for the Tz pipeline. Now that he is not in the picture, Tullow will have to wait for another upstream investor to buy a a stake in the oil field which negotiation alone will take like 3 years, then after concluding and signing the deal, mobilizing funds for the project will take another 2 years give or take. The new investor will probably need to do his own feasibility study to determine the actual cost..... Then construction will take another 2.5 years..... ......

Yani kwa kifupi, Itawachukua mda mrefu kuanzisha hii process tena na mwekezaji mwengine, Hebu angalia vile imechukua Uganda mda mrefu kufika hapa, Tangu 2005 hadi sasa ni miaka 14 tangu wapate mafuta, mwaka huu ndo walikua sasa waanze kupanga kuanza kujenga alafu mwenye pesa kanyimwa umiliki wa visima vya mafuta.... Sasa itabidi kuanza tena kutafuta mtu mwengine... hata hio 2030 ni karibu
