http://www.leightonoffshore.com/leighton_completes_tanzania_single_point_mooring_project.html
Leighton Offshore hassuccessfully completed the Single Point Mooring System (SPM) installed for theTanzanian Ports Authority (TPA) and the first tanker of imported white product(diesel) has been offloaded.
The project is locatedSouth East of the Port of Dar Es Salaam and comprised the Design, Engineering,Procurement, Fabrication, Installation and Pre-Commissioning of a replacementoffshore SPM and pipeline system for the import of crude oil and white productswith capacity for larger tankers up 150,000 DWT.
Leighton Offshore CEOMr Boyd Merrett said, "We are proud to have worked with the TanzanianPorts Authority to complete this project which included a number of technicalfirsts, including a complete pigging of the system through the SPM andpipelines, and some challenging work in trenching through the intertidalzone".
Leightons scope ofwork included:
· Offshore MarineTerminal System design, engineering and fabrication
· Procurement of allpermanent and temporary materials and equipment including new SPM and dualpipeline systems
· Onshore right of waypreparation and construction of one 24" and one 28" pipeline frombeach crossing to onshore tank farm over 4km away
· Transportation, offshore trenching, SPM system installation including PLEM and mooring systemas well as construction of the offshore pipelines.
· Subsea diver tie-ins,hook up works, system pre-commissioning and testing.
"This is animportant facility for Tanzania and neighboring countries, and we are verypleased to have been part of this project development and are continuing tofocus on East Africa as a market, where there are significant potentialoffshore oil and gas projects in early stages of development", Mr Merrettsaid.
MY TAKE:
I hope this would help to decongest the port on fuel deliveries though storage capacity might be the other cause of dermurrage.Mwisho wa siku bei ya mafuta inaweza isibadilike sana.
