Bongo flava ni mkombozi na mwajiri mpya, upande wa sekta binafsi nadhani hilo wote tunalikubali, na badala ya kuponda ni bora kutoa pongezi. Katika miaka ya hivi karibuni katika era ya Mkapa na JK,(japo wana mapungufu mengi) kumetokea mfumuko wa ongezeko la vyuo binafsi na mfumuko wa vijana wanaojiunga na kujiendeleza. Sio kweli kwamba vijana wote wana kimbilia kutunga mistari, isipokuwa kwa kuwa wanachokifanya kinahusu media ndio sababu kinasikika sana, mi nadhani ni mgawanyiko wa mitazamo, fani, na majukumu. Wakuimba waimbe na wasomi wasome. Gooo bongo flavor.

Brazameni, you make a good point, even I find it hard to listen to these artists. But let us not over generalize the situation. There are few good ones out there. The music is still developing, and may be one day it may take a turn inwardly, and become less of R&B imitation...let's hope. Remember the Afro Funk of the 70s? Manu Dibango, Osibisa... That were original African funk masters!
One thing for sure is, the sound production is very very poor. I suspect this is where your biggest irritation comes from. You see, most artists of the current generation (I called them the MP3 generation) have no idea what full blown audio qualia sounds like. And they could care less, if you ask them. So their sound production will naturally be crappy, also.
Sound production is an art form in its own right. This is definitely missing and mostly due to lack of knowledge and the cheap equipment used by the sound engineers. So even if the artist is talented, his/her music will be lost in translation...
I wish artists and sound engineers took interest in the art of sound re-production. Listen to records such as the new CD by Chaka Khan You Belong to Me - Funk this, or a song by Andreus called Hustla's Theme - Street Troubadour, or the song The Day Shall Dawn - Change is Pain by Mzwakhe Mbuli (in CD quality/pure wave format, of course). Those records are fully bodied, in your face, and full of ambiance.
We also need to learn how to incorporate some "real instrument" in the record to make the sound more natural and ambient...quantization errors zina tuumiza masikio jamani
