They should have pressed for the reevaluation of the terms of the deal. Instead they turned to defending the govt of Burundi implicated for gross human rights violations, and opted to use that deal as a bargaining chip to get the punishing sanctions against the country lifted as their pre- condition for signing the deal. In essense, they are going to accept this deal with all the contentious terms intact, sacrificing their countries' interests in the process.

The EU wouldnt lift the Burundi sanctions, just to get these countries to sign EPA, I dont see that happening.
