Not a popular Opinion.
Eating meat is not bad. But if you are eating meat almost every day just so your neighbour can smell it and see that you have “made it,” then you need to rethink your priorities.
Suppose you spend 200 shillings on meat every day for five days. That is 1,400 shillings in a week. Meat is not a problem, but you can have a plan. If it is a must, choose one or two days in the week to have it and use the rest of the money wisely.
Today, my son called me and asked me to go home with meat. Nothing is wrong with that. But just yesterday, we ate meat. We have eaten meat several times this week, including Friday, Saturday ofcousre we had visitors , and Sunday. Today, he is saying, “We ate chicken. Why don't we eat beef today?”
And this is where we need to teach our children. Meat is not bad, and there is nothing wrong with giving your children good food. But let them also understand that food does not just appear. Let them know that there is a cost behind everything.
Live within what you can comfortably afford. You don't have to eat meat every day to prove that you are doing well. Have a plan. Spend wisely. Feed your family well, but don't destroy your finances trying to impress people.
