Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of Aaron Briggs to Arne Slot’s backroom staff.
The 37-year-old joins as first team individual development coach at the club, likely taking over the responsibilities left by Victor Matos when he followed Pep Lijnders to RB Leipzig earlier in the summer.
Aaron Briggs began his football analysis career at Preston North End before joining Manchester City in 2011.
At City, Briggs initially worked as an Under-18 performance analyst and eventually progressed to a senior first-team performance analyst role.
During his nine years at the club, he played a crucial part in the backroom staff, contributing significantly to the team’s tactical and performance analysis under Pep Guardiola.
In August 2020, Briggs made a significant career move to AS Monaco, where he was appointed as the Head of Tactical Analysis.
His role at Monaco involved providing live match analysis, reviewing every moment to inform tactical decisions, and ensuring the coaching team had the most accurate data to influence game outcomes.
His expertise in live analysis and his ability to break down complex data into actionable insights were highly valued.
Having been at VfL Wolfsburg since June 2022, Briggs now joins Liverpool and is set to start immediately at the AXA.
